The thing to remember about LDoN gear is that, on its own, it's basically a template with pitiful statistics. The augmentations make it what it is. Fully kitted out, an LDoN piece feels to be about T4-5 in quality with the focuses of a T5/6 piece.
Compare:
Sturdy Iron Breastplate +
Glowing Pearl of Preservation with
Powerful Metal Breastplate.
As you can see, it's pretty much flatly inferior to a real T5 piece. While it
would be a nice upgrade from Chaotic/Kael gear, there's two big problems with that. First off, if you're in Chaotic with a bot in Chaotic, you ain't soloing LDoNs, even normal ones. If you're in Kael gear, and well-AAed you
might manage. Despite what the Adventure Info NPC says, a "fresh 70" won't have much of a chance alone. You'd need to have a group or a very well-managed box team to have a chance.
Second, by the time you earn the thousands of LDoN points needed to 1). buy the gear, and 2). aug it to the maximum, you probably could've progressed and geared yourself through Ssra, ToV, and maybe Sleeper. Just the gear itself is 400 points a piece, without augs, and it's strictly inferior to even Chaotic gear on its own, with no focus effects or clickies to speak of. You get 25-30 points per normal LDoN, and you're allowed 3 per hour. That means, if you LDoN nonstop, it's a minimum of 13 hours and some change
just for one piece. And that's not counting the 600 additional points you'll need to
put an aug in it.
So... your choice of spending your time is "progress through raid tiers one at a time" or "scrape and scavenge LDoN points as fast as possible, THEN blow through the tiers, only to be undergeared come T4-T5." Honestly, I'd just do the former.
The only worthwhile things from LDoN are LDoN spells and the T6 glove component.
Maybe you might get some of the high-end stuff that has double slot-8 augments in it, but you'll probably wind up replacing
that in T6-T7, and definitely have it replaced in T8.
