How to Multibox

I am an old school player of EQ. Played from the original until a little after EQ2 came out. I never multiboxed. I want to try it to see how it works and help me when I solo. I searched the forum threads here and didn't find any threads that explained how to do it. Could someone help explain how I go about setting it up or at least point me in the right direction to a forum page or website that explains the process.
Thanks in advance,
Jesse

Multiple ways but you have to find what works best for you. I play 3.. I load one character once he is in I drop to desktop then launch another instance of EQ and log that one in. My third toon is on his own dedicated computer.
When I played on Live each of the 5 toons had their own pc to run on.

My preference...

Grab a copy of WinEQ2. This allows you to start up windows with their own ini and (the major benefit) their own hotkey for each window. I don't know how people can run more than two and keep track of everything with an alt+tab

This.

Download the installer from http://www.lavishsoft.com/download/wineq2. You will have to create an account to run the program - it is free and I've yet to receive any sort of spam in years and years. After setting up your account, right click the icon in your system tray - get into EverQuest > Preferences folder and make sure you set the line that mentions patching to OFF - this does the same thing as adding the 'patchme' to the file path for your EQ launcher. Make sure the patch is pointing at your EQ directory, then go back to the WinEQ icon in system tray and launch from EverQuest > Default Profile. To set the window hotkeys you want to go into EverQuest > Preferences and you can set it per 'instance' of EQ. For example, the default to switch between windows is CTRL + ALT + # - I've changed it to be CTRL + # which works for me.

If you have trouble or something was unclear shoot me a PM and I'd be glad to help, or hit me up in game on Malistari.
