Necros of THF

Trick question -

If there was one single spell that you feel is missing between hitting lev70 and T8, what would that be?

I mean you have pets - you have dots - what else are you guys doing? :)

p.s. this is no thread for all other classes and how much Necros are better than you to begin with. The OOC Enforcer is a friend of mine, you have been warned!

I love my necro the way it is. Stuff dies so fast I actually find myself just peting stuff and mana-battery other classes. lol love it.

I feel the same way. Last night I was given a copy of the T8 pet! Now, I'm like a T1 Necro, so I don't know about higher end spells and the works. The only things that really bother me in the spell department is: I only used like 8 spells in total so far. I cast two dots, pet summon, pet haste, pet heal, root for CC, the spectre swarm pet spell thing, lifetap, and my lich.

I would say if I could have one spell added to the game, it would be this:

Spell: Turn my pet into an undead frog from the oldschool Sebilis zone. The mummy and vampire and skeletons are cool....but I want to control an undead frog!

That is a pretty cool idea (the frog!). I agree that necro's are pretty solid right now. On mine I'm usually rotating 4 DoT's and 2 DD's on a mob with my pet. A couple of things about the T8 pet specifically:

1. No-one uses anything but the monk (it's by far the best). Sometimes is takes 10-15 casts just to get that pet out. Maybe look into increasing the usefulness of the others or just get rid of them?

2. Wish my pet could hit bane mobs without requiring weapons from a magician..... *wink wink*

That's it! :)

The pet haste can be sort've like the BST warder's haste/proc buff combined. They turn into an undead frog and get a lifetap proc.

I primarily play a mage, but I have played my necro a good bit to get a feel for "the dark side"! I feel like necros are rounded out quite well, they've got all their bases covered at the high end, at least up to the level I played mine! (T6 or so, but with a t8 pet)

The only complaint I've encountered is that they end up getting outpaced in DPS in a raid setting, which I believe is due to power potential and the druid click not boosting DoT damage as much as DD damage. Not 100% sure on that, but a similarly geared necro and mage in our guild consistently parse at about 70k and 90k respectively when at full burn with all buffs and debuffs. I would guess that this difference gets evened out over time since without the druid debuffs and the power potential click, the necro is likely sitting higher than the mage.
