This sounds perfectly reasonable to me. With this rule, we are limiting a spammer to 10 messages per minute. That's not really spam, plus /ignore works too. We can actually start muting at 7 or so message (for the 1 min limit) with a warning, the way it is set up now on test server, only it start the warning at the 12th message and take action at the 19th.

Imo no need for complex petitioning/voting system to boot someone. There's 99% of the time someone around from the team, just we are in the shadows and working on the server. :)

I popped on to the test server to test this out tonight. Funny that you even blocked the 'bracket trick' using a certain program to encode multiple client side lines into one line server side. Not sure if this was planned or not as I'm not sure how the EMU server code handles this vs live.

Anyway, I would suggest kicking/banning based off IP and not the account name. I was spamming on one char with two chars logged in and got one kicked but the other didn't go with it. If someone was really dedicated, 12 chars with a message even every 10 seconds is pretty annoying.

Other than that, good work. It seems that I missed the 'fun' that caused this spam filter business.

Agree with this on the IP kick. Just to use an example if someone had 12 toons online. They could potentially write a macro to run from toon #12 sending the command to toon #1, that toon gets kicked it loops and switches to toon #2 then #3 and so on until all toons are kicked.

I missed the fun too! Anyone got screen shots to share?

I proposed a similar idea for people who make multiple transactions on an ATM at lunchtime. Except where THF is limited to a lockout, an ATM is connected to mains electricity allowing for greater variety in disincentives.

It's a lot harder to get these ideas put in place in the world of finance.

more like smell-kor (:

but for serious: I think that having the per minute limit would suffice. because sometimes you say something in ooc and want to make a quick correction. e.g.

Partial says ooc "Hey any riads going on?"
(.25 seconds later)
Partial says ooc "raids**"

if it's the same guy who was spamming a few days ago, then here's the reader's digest version:

jerk ruins gaming experience by spamming OOC with curse words and mean-spirited diatribes about Micah and the other GMs
