Not sure if this helps but trying to zone to lavastorm crashes my client.

Edit: I am using UF client. So far thats the only zone that 100% crashes my client and have to use the character mover.

Fix: The crash occur probably if you have modified the globalload.txt (i think) to maximise your framerate (ie, only have 3 lines for mine). I used the other everquest folder it zoned fine.

P.S. It does feel that I freeze a lot more when zoning. Specially I can see this when I use the teleporter from guildhall, or going back using the forest charm. I also see a lot more crashes or should I say kicked to main screen of the game when I die. Most of the time this happened on Plane of Fire, not sure if it has to do with anything.

The freezing is still happening consistently when zoning even with only one character logged on, any of the Dev's able to respond?

To put this into perspective, I ran the Halloween collection event with 10 chars about 30 times and never froze up while zoning, now about 40% of my chars freeze EVERY time I zone.

Unfortunately, not much we can do since it's not a server side issue. If it would be server side, everyone would experience it.

I would suggest to try connecting to THF via the THF login server, some players had similar issue and it solved the problem.

The issue is most probably connection problem between you and the login server/game server. I know that lately some players had connection issues reaching the eqemu login server why I suggested to switch over to THF ls.

Lillu, my main problem is freezing while zoning, 9 of 10 chars are going through the THF login server. I have been doing a lot of research on this and zone freezes seem to be a common problem with the EQemu servers for a while now.

Do you know if the datarate.txt file is accessed by the server to determine packet size? I'm trying to figure out the latency and if packets are corrupt or needing to be resent for any reason. Ping is disabled so I can't use that simple test. I have a packet sniffer saved somewhere but it's been a while since I've used it, I'm determined to find a fix for this.

Thanks,
Locis

I understand Locis. Unfortunately the issue is still sounds like it's a connection problem between you and the server. At least anyone reported similar problem, it turned out to be a connection problem.

I don't think any eqemu server uses datarate settings, not even live EQ uses datarate.txt since 2005 or so.

Did you try to connect with your PC directly to the Internet and bypass your router and however your LAN is set up? Did you try to turn your firewall off for the testing? Did you try to connect to other eqemu servers? Did you try to connect via eqemu login server? Try to isolate the problem, that's always the best way to spot the issue.
