Yep. These NEED to be made guild instanced.

The great majority of people do not play on THF to "compete". They play to have fun. Most people, in my experience, have jobs and lives - that means, you login at set times and log out by a set time, and you kill whatever is up during those times, generally.

Raid content should neither be made "hard", as defined by those who are donored magnitudes farther than others, nor made to where the majority who aren't that interested in competing, have to compete with the minority who are acutely focused on competition. Theres also the matter of individuals selling rank 3 spells - which adds to the bottleneck, and presumable isn't just going to magically stop happening when t9 goes live.

THF isn't eqlive, and lest anyone has forgotten, tonya harding liked competition too.

Also Noren 12 boxed every mob in HoH with 4 donors through out his 12 toons..

I see no one crying/whining/begging for PoF to be guild instance yet it is T5 raid zone and why is that? Because many tiers have come after that so it dies down just as HoH well but taking time from future content to redo a whole zone that is what it is and has been for over a year now just makes no since to me.

I'm going to put the rumors to rest... Halls of Honor is not being made guild instanced. In order to do so, the entire zone would have to be remodeled and quests/events would have to be nearly completely redone. In the time/effort it would take to make the zone instanced, we could easily have another raid zone near completion.

With that in mind, the next set of raid zones will be guild instanced. I did not like the way HoH turned out from a developer standpoint (a lot of editing abilities were limitized by it being an open zone) and I personally do not have any future plans to make another open contested raid zone. There will be open contested events similar to miragul/herox but not an actual raid zone itself.

Some people may not agree with this, some may, but that is the final truth behind all the rumors of HoH going guild instanced. I tried for awhile to see of it was possible without doing to much reworking of the zone, but the amount of effort and time it was taking to change just a single event was more than I could spare with all the other things that require my attention.


Please keep in mind also, completion of T8/HoH is not a requirement for T9 access. It will expedite your progression through T9 by allowing you to skip some flagging steps and required farming, but it will not be required for entry into the zone.

Agree we had 71 in a raid the other night, the saying "less is more" is very accurate.

Having others on the high end willing to share game play tips comes in handy as well but, like previously said the zone is what it is and lets make the best of it. Trying to kill a mob to learn the strat and what the script on it needs you do to as you make progress and you die a few times or a lot of times if you are Blique. Standing there rezzing getting ready to go again and someone zones in and yanks it from you while rezzing and says oh well it is contested content = not cool. I have zoned to the boss instances and saw someone else in there or corpses and either gated out or sent a tell asking if they were trying agian. Granted there was the one night I gated all but one toon and went to the store and got kicked from the zone so I did not cause the event failure for the guild that came in behind us.

But spawn times on mobs in that zone were recently reduced.

We don't use that particular toon as any yardstick, beat. As Vaion can confirm, when we test content, we make a point of having toons, particularly tanks, of different gear levels - undonored, mildly donored, heavily donored - tank the content. I'm unaware of you guys having that kind of variance on your roster, and therefore that capability. And, its also not us that thinks that the t8 content needs to be made harder either, or is stating we think it should be.

If t5 was the final tier, and basically locked up to the point where you couldn't make a guild event out of it for your people, you might think differently about it. A lot of others certainly would. Vaion said T8 is not going to be instanced. So be it. I don't happen to agree with that, or like it much, but if that's the way its going to be, then that's the way its going to be.

Beyond that, is that there is some very fundamental disagreement about how HOH content (and raid content in general for that matter) should be balanced. Some folks appear to think it should be balanced against the higher common denominator. Those same folks, as you know, claim that balancing things more appropriately for mildly donored tanks or even undonored tanks - like the one I play - "nerfing content" - "making it too easy". Others among us, even those of us who have "one of the top tanks and and avg. more at raids then any otehr guild that I see", think that things should be balanced more reasonably toward the median denominator - which quite frankly, would be a selfish thing to argue against.

I fully agree with you there. I think content should be able to be beaten without any donor items, I think they should simply be a unique and useful alternative to raid gear. My shadowknight buffs to 16.5k AC and he's non-donor, and he is one of the top (if not the best) completely donor-free tanks on the server. My warrior on the other hand is the highest AC/HP and most heavily donor'd tank on the server. he buffs to 30k AC 122k HP. That's almost twice as much AC, and over twice as much HP. Is that ridiculous? Absolutely it is. Do I think donors need to be nerfed? Yes I do, even though that probably won't happen.

Now, with all of that said:

Tier 8, from volkara to the chaos, has been 12 boxed by many people (most of the events are 3-6 boxable). Noren, one of the first few people to 12 box the chaos, had < 5 total donor items between all 12 of his toons. As it is right now, it's fine in that regard. Is there a bottle neck? Yes, a big one. But part of that is because it's easy. You don't need any donor gear to 12 box any event in t8. It's been proven. Making it even easier certainly isn't going to make the bottleneck any better

I know it's frustrating trying to beat content in a contested zone when you only have a limited amount of time before other people swoop in to take it out, but let's be honest, difficulty isn't the problem here. Also, most people are nice enough to run others through the content, which is one of the many benefits of the open raid zone. I've personally ran countless people through every event in HoH (including various people from drachenkinder and NV) and I know every single one of my guildies has done the same thing

Would I like to see the content harder? A little, yes. It's a little weird that someone can get flagged for HoH and then 12 box all the raid mobs with no donors in less than two months of getting flagged. Am I pushing for it to be made harder? Not really. I'm just tired of seeing this zone get altered. I think it's fine. I'd really like the GM's to be dedicating their time to releasing new content instead
