Instant Link Death

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any suggestions for this issue I am having.

More and more frequently, my paladin will go link dead instantly with no warning. This only happens to my paladin and most often just after pulling mobs. He disappears instantly and everyone else stays connected and most often dies horribly.

I have an amazingly stable connection and it only happens on the paladin, has anyone experienced this type of disconnect? Maybe there is a log file I can check but I did not see anything to pinpoint the source of the crash.

Does this happen in any and all zones? or in a certain zone? Which mobs are you pulling and what spells are you using when pulling?

Do you just get the black LD screen and then thrown back to char select or login screen, or is it causing EQ to crash. If crashing, are you getting the EQ has crashed window?

This might help us narrow it down some. There is a file called dbg.txt in your Logs folder in the EQ directory that might shed some light if you are fully crashing. Look at the bottom of the log.

Thanks for your quick reply. Sorry I should have been more specific about the crash.

- It happens in all zones.
-Happens pulling trash and bosses.
-I use /casting 4801 to pull, which casts Anger from the Frozen Dawnseeker's Mitts
-Also want to add that if I had to guess the issue, I think it stems from either True Command or Sacred Word Rk. I. While we are on the topic also want to add that these spells lag like crazy when there is 20+ mobs on me and I cast them. Like 2-3 seconds worth of input lag. Not to imply that I crash when there are large numbers of mobs on me, crash happens with just 1 mob as well. I will try and see if it only happens when I cast these spells but I doubt it.

Instant black LD screen sends me back to character select. After brief loading I am able to enter the world and zone back in exactly as my character was when he went LD.

Some things you might try...

Those gloves are in your bags and are must equip, so im going to assume your using MQ2exchange plugin to move them to your hands to click them. Using mq2exchange frequently or in rapid succession can cause a lot of issues that often result in a crash. There can be several things that can be goign wrong here that can cause a crash but try not using this hotkey for a while and see if that helps.

If you're thinking it may be from the other two AE spells you mention and since its a LD to char select you can also try turning off your filters. Alt-O then filters tab. Turn off as much as you can stand not to see. For True Command and Sacred Word id turn off stuff like spell focus msg, spell dmg, etc. But the more you turn off the better, not just for trying to fix this crash but for all lag.

If it happens in all zones and/or any/all mobs that should rule out anything wierd going on server side so it sounds like something on the client side tied in with some action thats being preformed on the pally.

Try those two and let us know.

I use the following 2 lines for the mq2melee plugin.


holyshit1=/if (${Cast.Ready[4801]}) /casting 4801

holyshit2=/if (!${Cast.Ready[4801]}) /exchange 9353 hands

It changes my gloves pretty often. I will try not using this and see if it helps.

Using underfoot,
I find spamming anything (E.g. if I pull and have mobs on me and twist songs and spam click green shield) I will d/c after about 15-30 seconds, even if I only spam for a bit, there's a delay.. then You have been disconnected.

Don't use exchange, turn filters down/off depending on client. That spell generated over 7 "pages" of spam once for me and then I went to never never land and had to /q and relog.
Also use MQ's built in filter to remove as much spam as possible (depending on client, you dont use that retarded titanium do you?) which will help a lot with lag/ld issues.

If none of that fixs it then, /shrug, kick a bunny?

holycrap indeed!!! If you are using mq2melee holyshit command to make it swap and use those gloves every time the cooldown is up i'm 99% sure that is your problem. There is just no way it can do that over and over without screwing up.

While mq2exchange is neat feature, and i even use it myself for a few clickies, it can cause lots of trouble if things dont sync up. One thing is to never spam it or try to use it as fast as it is available.

I have been using exchange trouble free for quite some time though. I forgot to mention I am also using it to swap weapons pretty often.

This ran for weeks without ever causing a link death. I actually used to marvel at how consistent my connection was. I also used the glove macro at the same time.

It is more of a recent problem that has been getting worse. I will troubleshoot some more to try and pin down the issue. I am not saying it is not the exchange, it probably is, but I am surprised it ran for quite a while trouble free. I am ditching the above swap since celestial elixir just is not that useful to me anymore.

I do use titanium. The memory reference crash that I get with titanium was fixed by choosing the right resolution to match my desktop. For UF, no resolution works to fix it. So I am stuck in the stone age...

I would either hotkey it OR write a never ending loop that calls for it to be used based on need.
I am not really up on the rules here about posting stuff or I would drop you a solid example but we can talk on vent / gtalk if you want.
