UF Client oddities

I am a relatively new user of the UF client having used Titanium exclusively since joining this server. There are lots to like about UF, but there have been some weird things occurring as well.

For example, anytime someone links anything in OOC the first 6 letters a truncated. It doesn't appear to happen in any other type of communication; say, guild, tells, etc. However, I can still click on the link & see the item. In ooc I would see "a, the Twin Biter" instead of "Vizcara, the Twin Biter" if linked.

I just received the title " , the Nightmare of Solusek Ro" but when I select it nothing appears. Not sure if this is a UF or THF issue since the title is relatively new. I haven't tried this title in titanium yet.

Was trying to finish up alchemy, but you cannot open the medicine bag in the UF client. I had to login titanium to use the few deepwater inks I was able to loot (you alchemists know how few of these drop).

I used to get a recourse buff when I would cast Touch of the Beast Rk 2 in titanium which I no longer get with UF.

I'm going to reply with the most basic solutions, and while some may be totally obvious just keep in mind that I mean no insult, I'm only looking to eliminate the broadest culprits before we get more technical. Note: I use the UF client.

I don't know that I've ever seen this happen. If I hazard a guess... the links are coming from a different client version that either [1] doesn't prepend the full 52 expected hidden characters, or [2] there's some sort of delimiter character. Rough guesses. I have never investigated how links work, nor am I offering any solution, but maybe we can at least identify the problem by spitballing ideas. My suggestion is to test this further. Have someone of each client link the same item and compare the results. If they're all suffering from the same problem, then it's your version of UF or UF itself (but probably just yours because I don't have this problem).

Assuming you did the combine on Cojo, non-shaman cannot bring up the tradeskill window for alchemy (this goes for all class-specific tradeskills attempted by characters of another class) with the UF client; however, you should be able to manually combine the ingredients without issue.

These both seem to be cases of missing or incorrect THF files. Did you download the Titanium or SoD+ versions of both the spell file and the THF installer?

I have seen this a few times before. I believe it is an issue between linking items from different client (ie. Titanium user links to a UF client) Although I am not 100% sure.

Not sure on this one. I have never seen any issues with titles on UF client. I will take a glance into it though and see if I can replicate the issue.

UF has a built in check in the EQ client's code for class/race specific tradeskill windows. You can by pass this in UF by holding ALT and clicking on the alchemy bag. This should open the manual combine window (Best you can get in UF due to client limitations).

Oddly enough, it was intermittent this evening. Some posts were truncated while others were complete. I do have the most current spell, dbstr & THF/UF installed, but perhaps something hiccuped during the process that I did not notice. I can re-install tomorrow to see if that fixes it.

I was working Cojo's tradeskills when I did the combines and I fully expected to manually combine them. ( I got his alchemy to 270 before UF change) I have been doing it that way all along when I was using titanium, so I had expected to do it the same way with UF. I did not try to ctrl-r open the medicine bag though. I had just right-clicked the bag to attempt to open it.

it is the CTRL key that allows you to do the class specific tradeskill with uf.
to clarify ... you need to open the container by holding the CTRL key and right clicking the container to open it otherwise the combine button is greyed out

I never had problems when I was on titanium for links but since I am on UF I do have partial name on links too. No big deal though but I am 99% sure it happens if different clients because when raiding with Chrom who is on UF I have no probs.

About title that's'wierd. Do you have same problem with other customed title?

I get the same issues with truncating the Item links between different clients. When I first switched over I has some questions about it and asked some people that were linking the items in chat. Every answer I received with the truncated items they were using a different client (Titanium).

Also, if you're using MQ2 I believe it prevents titles from showing. That may be your problem with the Sol Ro title.

I'm on UF with MQ2 and I have toons with customed title (book) or WB title and there is no problem at all. Problem is somewhere else.

Yeah linking items from other clients cuts the itemnames on your UF client.
If the item is linked from UF client you see it normal with your UFclient.

Well I tried opening the medicine bag this morning and it opened right away just with a right click. I DID have to use ctrl + r-click to get the combine button active. 50 manual combines later with no issues other than no skill ups, lol. Back to Siren's Grotto.....

With the title, I confirmed it was an MQ2 issue. With MQ2, no title..without MQ2, title appears as it should.....guess it's back to "the Chicken" title for me .

So far, everyone that I have contacted when I see a truncated link is using titanium.
