Gate Quest Item

Hi hi hi!

Time for more of my silly questions, and yes, I know, you all missed these SO much!!! heheh

Once upon a time, the Queen in THF gave out a charm to new arrivals, and it had the "Gate to HF" effect. However, I created a new char in order to check out the changes made to the server, and I noticed on my Ranger that the charm that the Queen gives out no longer has that "Gate to HF" effect, but some type of "root" instead. Trust me, I know this is a Root, because I kinda cast it upon myself....look, I was only on my second cup of coffee, BE NICE!!!!

So, in other words, what other type of low-level "Gate to HF" charm quest or item is out there?? I know there's a Locket of Escape that drops in CoM, but my Ranger is still a wee bit too "young" to go there with any prayer of survivability.

And before I forget, I must admit, I love the direction of the server so far. I am mad at myself for missing the chance to volunteer to help out on any stories or quests, I blame my kids and Real Life for that!!

I have the updated spell file for SoF client, from Friday, but I drew a mental blank just now trying to remember if I installed it correctly...

...does the spell file go in to the spelleffects folder or a different one??

It should be copied to the root of the eq folder. make a copy (backup) of your original one.

Yep, I had downloaded it and -not- installed it.
I have now installed it and I see on that charm where there is "Forest Gate". My Ranger is very, very happy.

About the gate item, yeah it's probably a spell file issue. I checked your Ranger's magelo and I see the charm there with the right effect. When installing the file, you should get a warning message saying, "Are you sure you want to replace this file?" If you don't get that, you're in the wrong directory. It should be something like C:/Program Files/Sony/Everquest.

About the server lore ... I'm always looking for creative ideas as this is the weakest area of mine. I tend to be repetitive and change things just slightly enough so they're different. Fresh ideas are always welcome so I am interested in anything you think of. Just drop me a line.
