tradeskills worth doing? changed here?

My highest char is 60, but already I can see that items are quite more powerful here. I was wondering if tradeskill stuff is more pwerful here as well? Specifically, I am interested in alchemy because damage shield potions were very nice since they stacked.

Are they worth it on this server too?

Tradeskills are mainly used in certain quests here like Solo Aura, or HoH acces. Anyone can do the combines for your HoH pieces though. Some augs or arrows are nice for newer players too. Alchemy is good for HoH double point potions as well. And all tradeskills are listed on the achievement board. So really it just depends on your and what you want I spose. But as far as gear goes I would say they are of no use here.

Tradeskills are a nice thing to do in your downtime, and might come in somewhat handy in early tiers through t5, especially if you're progressing through those tiers somewhat slowly/methodically. The higher level TS combines from t4/t5 boss drops (forget the name) are pretty decent upgrades for the tier that most people just skip because they don't want to skill up the TS's necessary (though with AA's you'll have a 50% chance at 1 skill level anyways). Like MK said, there are also the HoH point potions which are nice for toons who haven't bought the neck clicky from there. There are custom weapon augs that are pretty nice for fresh 70's that are fairly easy to make. I also believe there are some nice upgrades to LDoN armor from sol ro tower that might have tradeskills involved? Never really investigated there. It's also nice to already have a toon maxed on everything just in case someone needs a combine for something like the hoh access quest.

All in all, they're nice to have on occasion, but nowhere near "necessary." Better to have and not need, than need and not have imho. Just note that skillups are darn frustrating after 200, especially 250-300.

Yeah i think Sol Ro might. I still have yet to venture in there though lol. Also Shadow Haven has ways to upgrade your Kael armor I hear? I've pretty much skipped any armor that needed tradeskills though in the past lol. I either was too lazy and didn't have them done at that point or I am way past that point now :P.

but as rude said they are nice to have done on at least one toon at some point. So you don't have to rely on someone else for your wants/needs. And yes after 200 is where they all slow down majorly lol.

The shadow haven combines are not skill related, iirc. But those upgrades are very very mediocre upgrades I think. Did a couple of them on a fresh 70 I was just playing around with, I think it added like 10hp? and maybe a couple heroic stats (which is nice, but meh.) For all the effort in looting the right materials + spending whatever small amount of crystals on the bag/whatever it was that was needed, it seemed pretty senseless :P

And god, 250-300 was brutal. So. Much. Spring. Water. Wasted. Can't imagine what it would've been like attempting that old-school, without the new UI for search/combine/auto-inventory buttons. Needs to be a check-box on the UI that will combine that item repeatedly until you run out of mats :P
