Returning to game, and /stick still wonky

Hail all you noble adventurers!

I've always heard that /stick from MQ2 is this amazing cure-all for following boxed toons, yet before I left several years ago I had the problem of my /stuck toons running around in circles, running into walls, and generally being nuisances. I was never able to fix this.

Well, several years later, on a new box, fresh download, never-before-been-EQ'd game and a brand new MQ2 download, and my /stick is still wonky.

Toons are running in circles, into walls, off bridges, and generally being nuisances. Anyone have an idea why I can't see my tribe following obediently like the many I've seen in the past? Am I affected with some non-/stick coating? Did I donate for Teflon armor?

Please, an idea how to fix this non-/stick-y mess!!???

I have always found /stick to be a bit funky. One of my toons always got stuck on a pebble or something and just stood there running in place. I have since switched to /netfollow and it works much much better. Toons rarely get stuck or randomly quit following. You need the MQ2NetBots and MQ2NetAdvPath plugins which are included in most MQ2 download packages to use /netfollow.

Dred,

Thank you for your response. Apparently I cannot load up the MQ2NetAdvPath, as it wasn't in my download. I'll keep looking, but is it possible to have the .dll file saved elsewhere?

I should say that I'm not the most code-literate person in the world, but moving a file into the right file is definitely something I could do, if I had the file.

Again, thanks for your response so far!

Are you using wineq? If so, here is some info I've posted for my guild :

If you are using WinEQ you might run into a problem with your toons following you when /sticking. I was able to fix this problem by opening the MQ2MoveUtils.ini file in your MQ2 folder and adding the following line:

WinEQ=on

Since I added that, I haven't had a problem with my toons following me (besides occasionally getting stuck on a tree/wall/etc.).

No, not running WinEQ.

But, if you added the line WinEQ=on, would I have to have a line for the reverse, as in WinEQ=off?

I guess it is possible but not very likely the .dll file is elsewhere. Some MQ2 downloads don't have it. If you are using the UF client I can PM you a link to the one I use with the MQ2NetAdvPath .dll in there

I'd try putting it in anyway. Couldn't hurt.

Thanks, Dred, but I'm using SoF. This is feeling like karma to me, haha.

And thanks, rasjaziz, I'll try that as well

Sounds like the same issue warglor had a while back, even if you're not using winEQ that should fix it

Ok, finally, I'm up and running on UF, and that solved the major issues. I'm still curious about the link you mentioned...
