I'm having some trouble with THF. I had this game loaded and playing fine, for a few weeks, until one day recently it just took a dump on me by not allowing me to log in. Being a computer dumbass all I could think off was to re-check all the areas I had changed at start up. Everything was as it should've been but still I couldn't login in. So I deleted everything. Deleted the shortcuts. Deleted the TGF folder. End of story.
However, I wanted to play THF, so:
1) I reinstalled the UF client from the THF website
2) I installed the THF downloader, even tho it must've already been in the UF files because it asked to over write the files. I did so. I then made a shortcut and placed on desktop
3) I made a shortcut of the eqgame.exe file and added patchme in properties, with a space before the word patchme, per the instructions. moved the shortcut to desktop
4) opened the eqhost file and edited it to just the following:

5) per the instructions, I double clicked on my THFdownloader icon on the desktop and got the message:
Invalid Folder: Cannot find eqgame.exe
6) So I double clicked on the eqgame.exe icon I had put on the desktop and on numerous tries getting error messages, about passwords and soe eq (whatever the hell that was about) I finally got past the login screen and made it to the character select screen, Only to find 1999 style characters. NOT what I had been previously playing.
So, after all that, something is obviously still wrong and I am clueless as to what the problem is. At this point I'm about to just say F it and give up on THF. If anyone has any clues or tips or ideas as to what I am doing wrong, please respond. I'd appreciate the help.
Since I had THF up and running fine once, proving I am not a total dumbass, I really am frustrated that all of a sudden nothing works correctly, when as far as I know, I'm doing all the correct things to get up and running.

EDIT:
Important and probably relevant, after logging into game with the 1999 graphics, I clicked on options > display, clicked on full screen button, and the screen freezes. Waiting does nothing and the cursor just spins in a circle forever until I force a shutdown. So not sure what that deal is either. Just saying.

Sounds like you got everything figured out but the graphics issues. All graphics settings are saved in eqclient.ini. When you make changes in-game, it is supposed to save those changes to eqclient.ini. If you're unable to make changes through the game (spinning circle and game crashes), then don't worry there's another way. We can just change a couple things in the file, save it, and then open up the client and voilĂ , mission accomplished.
So, let's do that. Would you please go to your Everquest folder, open it, open eqclient.ini, highlight everything, and paste it here for us to see? There's nothing private in there. Just settings. I'll take a look at the settings you have, change it so you're using newer Luclin graphics and then paste the changes in here. All you need to do after that is highlight the settings I give you and completely replace everything in your eqclient.ini file and save it. Done. Copy and paste magic.

Try this for your eqclient.ini
As for the THFDownloader issue - when you run THFDownloader.exe does it ask you where your Everquest folder is? Best way to reset it is to delete THFDownloader.cfg, which should always be right next to THFDownloader.exe if you sort alphabetically and then re-run THFDownloader.exe and it should ask you to point it to your Everquest folder. Should be smooth sailing after that.

As for the THFDownloader issue - when you run THFDownloader.exe does it ask you where your Everquest folder is? Best way to reset it is to delete THFDownloader.cfg, which should always be right next to THFDownloader.exe if you sort alphabetically and then re-run THFDownloader.exe and it should ask you to point it to your Everquest folder. Should be smooth sailing after that.

I'm having a problem doing the copy/paste. I highlight everything on your list, but when I try to paste on the eqclient.ini I don't get a paste option. Tried numerous times, just don't see a paste option. just more weirdness for me

Obviously eqgame.exe is in my eq folder that I'm using for THF, so I have no idea what the message means.

Ohhh is your file read only? It's a checkbox within the file's properties window if you're new to that option. Simply uncheck it and then you can edit it.

eqclient.ini file was not marked as read only.
however, under that was a block message so I took a chance and clicked the button to unblock. sad to say it didn't help with the copy paste.
Times like this I wish I had training in this kind of thing. frustrating to not know squat about these problems lol
