MQ2Autologin since new server code

Post#1 » Sun Jul 12, 2015 3:38 am

For whatever reason Autologin is only getting me to the server select screen and doesn't click play (sits there and says unknown error occurred, but if I manually click play it logs in and selects the toon/enters world as expected) - I took a break for a few months so I can't pinpoint exactly when it went from working to non. Hoping that someone else who uses Autologin can shed some light...

I've made no changes to how I have it setup, my mq2autologin.ini is as such:

Code: Select all

[Settings]
KickActiveCharacter=1
InstantCamp=0
UseStationNamesInsteadOfSessions=1
UseINIServerList=1

[ServerList]
HiddenForest=12

[account1]
Password=xxxxx
Server=HiddenForest
Character=xxxxx

[account2]
etc...

I use a batch file to launch WinEQ2 instances and load 12 toons. I'm configured to use the THF login server.

Double check your eqls file for one of your chars. Looks like for me the server ID changed from 12 to 1. That might fix it.

On the server select, if I manually choose the shortcut to hidden forest it behaves as you describe. If I select play, it goes onto character select.

TLDR: changing the serverlist number to 1 worked for my toons. Their autologins get past the server select screen just like before the RoF2 upgrade.

Long story: After the server login glitches that affected everyone were fixed, I noticed the same problem that Alulien did...the mq2 autologin mod was not getting toons past the server select screen.

I saw right off that the problem was going to be either in [Settings] or [ServerList] in the MQ2AutoLogin.ini file in the MQ2Emu_Classic_Underfoot folder (your own folder name may be different) and so I went to mqemulator.net, clicked on Forums and Software Documentation and found instructions for MQ2AutoLogin. It said to manually login your toon, then logout to desktop and check the LastServerID setting which is under the [MISC] heading in file eqlsPLayerData.ini in your EQ folder. Unfortunately, that setting was blank and did not change after several login/logouts...

So I found this post and tried to change the serverlist setting to 1 manually but kept getting the Access Denied message...and I use an admin account in my win7. Changing the file properties did not get rid of that message either.

Sooo....I checked the internet and according to think-like-a-computer.com there is a bug (or as Microsoft likes to say, an undocumented feature) whereby admin accounts can be blocked by UAC even if permissions are properly set. So I disabled UAC which allowed me to edit the serverlist number (...[ServerList], HiddenForest=1...).

After a couple successful autologins, I went back and checked eqlsPlayerData.ini and saw that LastServerID now had a setting of 1. I suspect that UAC had also been blocking EQ from auto editing that file.

That's very odd... when I first noticed the issue I checked the eqls info and it was still showing 12. I just tried after changing it to 1 and it indeed is working again, and eqls is reflecting that's the correct #. I say it's odd because I've got UAC at the lowest setting which is essentially disabled.

Thanks for the fix folks!
