The Necro Solo Project

Since there are like no necros on the server (Magoo played one, but doesn't any more ... but I saw another one the other day) I'm going to playtest one through completely solo and give feedback in this thread. This thread is on the class itself as it pertains to this server, not quests/lore/rewards/etc unless it pertains to necros.

Others are encouraged to contribute feedback.

So far: Just finished Crushbone and Paludal. The necro epic is really powerful, but not overly and it stacks well with other dot's. Not sure if it was customed or not, but probably the same as live so that would be expected.

Solo is just fine with a bot, although I was able to take stompers/champions at 18 with my melee characters - necro couldn't do it until almost ... mid twenties?

The new quests add much survivability to the class, especially the heal cloak to keep your bot alive. Bots are too stupid with enrage and need help though when used by a non-tanking class. Still wishing there was a command like #bot juststandthere.

Overall, still very easy, but a little slower. On to CoM.

I have a necro alt, Rhuina, and she's in her low 60s now. With a paladin-bot, with comparable gear to what the necro has, they are a terrific duo, with the pet doing much dps.

In Crushbone, she was taking on stompers before level 20, and champions at 20.

Necros are almost as much fun as Magicians to play, but they do have the added attraction of lifetapping, manatapping and health-to-allies in their favour.

CoM will give you much joy. On the named mobs, I tried to avoid them until they conned blue to me, and even then, I gave Dread Wraith much room because I have bad memories of what he did to my Magician, heheh.
I need a scorecard to keep track of all of my alts!!
Kymarrah/ Mierrie/ Cialla/ Dhaani/ Bellabee
and so very many more....

Went to CoM and there were reds everywhere ... I made 10 levels in about a half hour solo and buffless (they wore off) :( Way too fast, but then again, not much you can do until you get about 45 and can begin handling named mobs so I guess it is ok.

Tuned slightly. Original cast time on the Dot is 9 secs. I tweaked it to 3.

Does call of bones (trade hp for mana over time) work on Emu? My hp aren't going down like I assume they should. It overwrote clarity so it stacks correctly. Kinda hard to tell if the mana regen works though.

Exploit ... dot's do not generate aggro when feigned. I can throw a ton of dots on something, feign, and walk away. No aggro.

Your +regen gear likely negates the call of bones hp/tick effect. it does work though.

Also, the Necro lich type spells take into account pvp rules. So if you ahve an effect like -50 hp on you per tic, it only does 2/3 of that. (Don't recall rules directly but you get the idea)

I know that my GF played a necro up to lvl 40ish, and she was able to solo Guk named but it was very difficult for her. Their pets are very fragile, but she also played way back when before pets were even customized. Times have changed since then!

I played necro +Sk bot. for high survival, cause Sk lifetaps and even drops FD when low on hp =)

After CB/PC- Guk is the lowest and have most spread out spawns. Necro gets easy single pulls there with Numb Undead, but better switch bot to paladin for some holy power. Next step up was CoM, then Karnor. When I got to 55, I went back to Guk/CoM to do the names for the drops.

Eventually by 57 I made it to Sebelius, and got stuck permanently =)
The 2 front trash mobs have 1.5 times DPS than the same level named in Guk, and double the HPs. Only survived the pull by FD after 1 mob was killed - but both bot and pet died.

basically this is the point where difficulty have went from "duo" (you and bot) to at least "trio" (you, bot and another box/player)

Hopefully the new progression line I am working on will address this issue without the need to touch existing zones =)

Hints you should know: when first time summoned your Sk bot will open his first pull with a Harm Touch =) Good for pulling named
Similarly, your paladin (recently summoned) will use Lay Hand the first time he drops down to 20%
