Patcher crashes to hidden exception, cant log in! Please help!

Wanted to revisit EQ and decided to come back to the HF but! I cant get the patcher to work! Followed directions but get hidden exception error on trying to start.

for this,i duplicated my UF client for PEQ install and renamed it, it should still work being as it is also uf..

Should always start with clean install with nothing ever from another emu

Just tried with my patcher - same type of error.

The remote server returned an error. (404) Not Found.
If you continue on that error get Updating Downloader PLEASE WAIT!
That message has been there over 15 minutes, had to end the process.

I just patched same day/next day from last patch (1/9) and worked fine. Looks like it is trying to get the info from Amazon then fails.
To be sure it was not just one downloader with the issue I tried on laptop as well, same issue. Downloaded new patcher files, made sure all AV was off and tested again - same error.

As stated you should always start with a fresh install but appears the patcher is not working properly.

Will look into this ASAP. For the time being you guys should be able to play without running the patcher running directly the UF client.

My mom called me complaining about a 404 error. I walked her through typical fixes (restart, check internet connection, etc.) and even reinstalled the THF Downloader. I checked to see if the server was down but it is showing "Online," with people logged in. Perplexed I logged into my PC remotely from work.

Now I've been playing for years without issue (Since 2011/2012) - for the past few months daily without any issue as well as my mother). Today we are both getting the same error:

"Microsoft.NET Framework Unhanded exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click quit, the application will close immediately. The remote server returned an error: 404 Not Found"

If you click continue or quit, nothing happens either way.

We are all on Win10 64bit with THF UF client.

Confirmed that the regular game exe works just fine. Only THF patcher not working.

Microsoft.net framework has been updated to 4.6 recently

thf downloader is probably linked to older dlls

i got the same errors

maybe we can get the new upcoming updates in zip files until a fix can be found for the downloader

I'm getting it now too when running patcher, but I don't have any .net updates, the error sounds like it can't find a page it's trying to reach (maybe for the update/file repository to see if the patcher needs an update?)

*edit* message is very similar to what happened in 2014 when a file on the patch server was not found - viewtopic.php?f=30&t=11456&p=68841&hilit=THF+Patcher#p68841 - but this is before the patcher gui loads, so almost as if the patcher update files repository is not being found.

i had to update .net last week for some modded games (via nexus mod manager)

before that the patcher worked fine
