Downloading Custom files

While we are trying to resolve the Connection Issue, here a quick poll -

Are you people willing to download more custom files like NPC models etc so we can create some truly unique stuff?

I think this could be a good/interesting thing as long as it doesn't go overboard and the game still has its EverQuest feel.

I think this is a great idea. I'd like to see some more truely custom content. I understand Xeb's point... and I think as long you keep the balance between new and old it'll work just fine :) Personally I wouldn't mind seeing some new stuff, I've been looking at this junk for over 6 years! I could use a semi-expansion pack ;)

In short: Hell yes!!

To elaborate: I know another server that did something similar and it worked out fantastically. Also, aren't you guys planning on making PoWar tier 6 or is that on the back burner now? In order to do that, wouldn't you need custom files for models? ;)

Anyway, I had been hoping for this since my first week on the server. I never brought it up because I wasn't sure if it was too difficult tbh, but it would add even more uniqueness to the server. Some people hate more customization, others love it. If you're on THF, you must love it though, so I say bring on anything you can customize!

Edit: Reading Xeb's post, I don't think you could ever break the EQ feel unless you changed classes and everything. I don't think they'd be able to make completely new models (or would you?), as far as I know they'd just be able to make normal EQ mobs in their non-natural zones. For example, there are only a handful of "global" models to choose from. When not using global, you're stuck with zone-specific models. That's why if you tried to spawn a dragon in the nexus he'd come out a human :D Fortunately, to make him actually be a dragon it's just a matter of modifying a few files...

I just want to elaborate that there are many ways to add new models, some are more difficult than others based on number on issue, but even all things considered if we only go with those models which can EASILY be made Global, there are plenty of them to choose from AND you will be required to download a total of ONE additional file which size of less than a few k

Actually yes :) To be honest i have been thinking about asking you guys to make Shissar models into a global-boot model and use that to add a Shissar clicky illusion to the Emp key ring ;) because the ring itself could easily be replaced by something with better stats but with that as a clicky you can bet few people would ever take it out of their inventrory :P A clicky Iksar Skeleton illusion would be pretty cool to. But you would have to look into it because global models are different for SoF clients than they are for Titanium, for example the Iksar skeleton model is considered a global model for an SoF client but iirc it isn't for Titanium. I have a list of what models are considered global on SoF that i put together while i was messing around with my own server if you wanted it.

I would love more models ... more to play with when writing quests is always a good thing.

I most definitely voted yes for more customization. Can never get enough of it, far as I'm concerned. Already THF feels like a very different and polished server, adding to that would only...well, add to that

More custom content? Yes, please...bring it!!

However, a reminder to d/l whatever new files are put up would be a good idea. Maybe colour the text or something, so people don't forget when they are suffering from caffeine withdrawl....

Hells Yeah!

To actually zone into a zone and see npc's that dont belong there is what caught my eye on custom servers in the first place im all for downloading a small file or two to get this.
