Walkthrough
Often times, Crushbone can take you completely through to level 35 and so sometimes a new player may skip Paludal caverns altogether. However there are a couple quests here which yield some useful rewards.
Quest mob:
Alonses Palamatious is an Erudite located on the land bridge you find while on your way towards the Shadow Haven zone line. His specific loc is -916, 520.
Quest text:
You say, 'Hail, Alonses Palamatious'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'Away! Away! Stay away or I swear I will crack your head open! I am not afraid of you!'
Alonses Palamatious furiously swings his staff at you.
You say,'Why would you be afraid of me?'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'Oh you`re not one of them, oh ... I thought you came to finish me off ...'
You say,'One of who??'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'The bandits! Those vile, bloodthirsty bandits!'
You say,'What bandits are those?'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'The Recondite Bandits made their camp right at the entrance of the tunnel that leads to Shadow Heaven. Foolishly, I thought that camp was set by the people of the Shadow Heaven, an inn for weary travelers or outpost of some sort. Oh, how I was wrong. They beat me up and robbed me! I have barely escaped with my life, but I have lost everything!'
You say,'What did you loose?'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'You see, I am a researcher from Erudin. I spent the last five years living and doing my work in Shar Vahl and was now on my way to Shadow Heaven. I did't have much, just my personal things, some money, and of course my research journal! It is the most important of all my possessions. Those bloody Recondites took everything! I am totally ruined now! I don't know what I am going to do ...'
You say,'Perhaps I could help you?'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'Help me? How?'
You say,'I could try to get your things back'
Alonses Palamatious says, 'Oh, this is so honorable of you! Of course, please. My backpack, my purse, and most importantly, my research journal! If you find them all and bring it back to me. I will be forever in your debt!'

The task:
Alonses requests you go to the nearby Recondite camp and retrieve his Stolen Backpack, Stolen Purse, and Stolen Journal.
All three of these items drop randomly off the following mobs located at the various bandit camps:
- a recondite bandit
- a recondite burglar
- a recondite catburgler
- a recondite charlatan
- a recondite cutpurse
- a recondite deceiver
- a recondite demagogue
- a recondite footpad
- a recondite pickpocket
- a recondite swindler
When you have these, return to Alonses for your reward.
