The first Underfoot download seems to be broken.

On the Getting Started Guide ( viewtopic.php?t=1763 ) the first link listed for the Underfoot client downloads ( https://thfmain.s3.amazonaws.com/EQ_Underfoot.zip ) leads to a file that is only 4.3 GB. Once downloaded it wouldn't unzip properly, I had to use 7zip which complained about a bad header but extracted the files none the less, but after updating the client with the XP files and attempting to launch I got error messages about a bad exe. After that I checked on the mirrors and they all have downloads over 6 GB. So I can only conclude that the zip file the first link points to is bad and should be replaced before others run into the same. For now I have the copy from the first mirror downloading instead.

Just for the record, I am attempting to get this running through Wine on Linux, but that shouldn't be an issue. I've been playing on Project 1999 with the titanium client without any troubles for the past few weeks now. I figured I would give the Underfoot client a try on a new Wine prefix so I could go back and forth between the two when I feel like it. I'm guessing it should run fine once I get the new copy done downloading in an hour or two.

There are numerous posts about the same issue, if you do a search you'll find some helpful information.

The 4GB client should work as fine as any other, it's just hosted on amazon and because of the size of the file the download could easily be corrupted I guess. I'm downloading it now to double check it's integrity and will eventually just remove this share if it's really an issue.

I did actually search first, couldn't find anything related to the download links. The version I got from the first mirror ( http://mirror1.thehiddenforest.org/down ... erfoot.zip ) was able to be extracted cleanly and after updating I was able to get the client to launch with almost no issue. I did have to grab the d3d9_30.dll file I had to download for the titanium client for P99 to get past the server select without crashing. I am now at the character creation now, so things are going great now.

As far as that first download, I will concede that it could just be I had bad luck with a corrupt download, so your check should help us get to the bottom of that. I just found it suspicious that the first three links all point to the same file (EQ_Underfoot.zip), but only that first was significantly smaller and had issues with a corrupt zip header and a broken eqgame.exe. So I figured it was worth pointing out just in case.

Pretty sure this happened off the first link also, had a friend try out the server for the first time. He downloaded the UF client and was meet with sever frame Chops and lag. The client apparently unzipped fine but as far as what else he did to get up and running i'm not sure. He did say after restarts and some fiddling he was able to get in and move around but the lag was so bad he wasn't able to do much.

-I know this doesn't give specifics but just another case to note i suppose -

Cheers!

Updated the player guide. Mirror 3 is recommended for safe download but the rest should work fine too.

There's something up with the eqclient.ini in the download that's making it choppy. Have him either delete the ini or send yours to him. Should fix it.

I had issues with the download as well , but I think I used the second link. The first had way too slow of a download speed.

The files extracted fine and only a few files were changed by the patcher. I tried to play the game and had framerates so low as to be unplayable. But then I remembered I had the Underfoot client on Steam. The patcher changed about 120 files on that but it runs great.

I never did take time to figure out what the issue might have been on the other client, but something was definitely wrong someplace .
