The top rare drop arms from VT are strangely lesser AC than the top rare drop arms from HoH. Being an AC addict, that doesn't seem right... my characters are just using the VT arms as clickies.

Ahh kinda big ac diff there but one is a rare. Even Lucid Thorny Chain Sleeves a rare ish drop only rocks 135 ac. Also Aphen arms most likely make up for the ac difference with the worns 15% more dmg mod. As chaos armor has zero worn effects to luclins all gear nearly has a worn effect.

But AC is king... both are super rare drops. Also Aphen Vambraces have less attack.

One item id say is for tanking the other is more dps friendly. Worn2: This item is imbued with a powerful magic said to increase your ability to strike your enemies 15% harder then before! thats quite a large dps increase for some. To me Aphen arms are suited to be on a zerk rog monk imo vrs a tank.

Besides assuming you are the same and nothing on this server can kill you anyways. So the small drop in AC has no impact on game play.

Indeed with VT we tried to introduce some alternatives to the "raw gain on all stats" thinking to give the itemization some diversity.

+1 here. Gives some diversity in gear between characters. Plus on a dps toon that worn2 on that VT set is pretty nice

Well clearly you guys are ALL WRONG and should agree with me at this point unanimously !

I do offer this in further support of my suggestion to increase the AC of the Aphen Vambraces (who the heck is Aphen anyway).

The regular class armor from VT that you get with the appropriate rune and other hand ins have the following AC:

Silk 93
Leather 140
Chain 150
Plate 170

So, if you are an AC freak like me, Vambraces of Aphen, despite their icon, are not on par with plate but only offer an AC upgrade to Silk and Leather wearers. If you check my characters magelos, such as Mchawi and Denizina, you'll see them sporting Vambraces of Aphen. AC then doesn't match nicely with Leeching Touch very well... unless you melee frequently with your Druid (hmm I do sometimes) and Mage (not so much). If one were to contend this is a nice exceedingly rare drop from the highest mob in THF for chain, I'd say at the very very least it should be bumped up to 150 AC.

Anyway that's all for me on this topic. IMHO its a missmatch that needs fixen.

I could understand that but giving it has the 15% increase to every hit in damage i feel thats what makes it rare. Some rare are just built for other classes / certain class. To me this is one this is a huge dps boost item vrs a actual tank item like arms of chaos which i feel is 100% tank arms. Just like in reg eq thf also applies same ruling with certain class benefit more from a certain item. Such as items with backstab of course they are of no use for any other class but are all/all good stats over all and sometimes a clicky. It is best suited of a rog but all can use. These arms to me fall in line with that.

Well, I agree it is specialized but with this AC of 145 I'd say it is NOT the choice for any chain class.

I'd say it is instead dead zero set on one class...Beastlord. And my Beastlord, Oldmans, wears them.
