Ranger + Rogue dps

With both being nerfed recently, I figured it would be good to compare them.

Rogue: 235 AA, 36/20 primary (Augged epic), 29/19 OH (Augged Bloodbath).

Low DPS on trash mobs: Around 350

Average DPS: 550-600

High DPS: 800

Ranger: 112 AA (all archery AA), Unauged Darkwind (41/28 bow), 10 dmg + 4 ele dmg arrows.

Low DPS on trash: 100

Average DPS: 170

High DPS: 290

As you can see, it's a BIG gap. Also, to throw this in, a monk with emp aug + ToV 2hb was parsing about 1k DPS on raid mobs the other night average, nearly doubling the next DPS's damage. Raid mobs have more AC than trash I am assuming also. Bersekers I group with who have 1.5 and most DPS aa's also only parse about 3-500 DPS.

Interesting. Before this patch i received complaints that Rangers do more DPS than Rogues, so i nerfed bows.

Seems i can upgrade bows again! Also, what's the name of TOV 2h? Was it the Shovel? I mean the Shovel + Emp aug = almost 2.0 DPS. It's supposed to do kick ass dps, highest possible weapon combo in game atm so its not really fair to compare that to anything else really..

Maybe Emp 1h weapon + 4dmg aug + aug'd epic can be compared to that.

Tweaked Shovel a bit (nerfed only slighly really) and upgraded the 3 Bows abit. We see how it goes from here.

The thing with Archery is

You don't get hit, at all. No melee, no rampage, no Ae. You stand 300 feet away and just use autofire. So what damage should come from that? How should that be balanced compared to melee?

I could up the damage from Bows lots but then i need to decrease the range alot. Current Bows have 220 feet range, + 50 feet on arrows or so.

So i could up the dmg from 45/28 to 55/25 but then also decrease the range to 100 MAX so also rangers get hit by the AE. That's at least my reasoning behing this.

As always, tell me what you think, im open for dissussion. I want all classes to be equally strong.

While it is true that rangers can avoid some ae's, it's not the case for all. There are lots of zones where, unless you strategically pull the mob, a ranger cannot hide from the AE. There are very few open zones atm, and in ToV we are only able to block rangers from some of the AE's. The fact is that with the small hallways it's very difficult block the AE from every mob.

Another thing to consider, Tyler, is that most of the big raid mobs are perma rooted. This kills ranger DPS even more. So although melee have no way to block AE's and rangers do sometimes, they have their own disadvantages. I thought only Ssra would have perma rooted mobs, but then I noticed the 3 WToV dragons are also perma rooted. Perma rooted damage is like normal rooted mob damage for bows, or moving mobs, which really sucks for rangers. I'm not sure that can be fixed without making it so rangers do max dmg regardless of if a mob is moving, rooted, etc.

Ok, i nerfed bows to

100 range (guk)
125 range group drop
150 range raid drop

and upped the dmg/dly ratio.

Rangers should never outdps rogs but they should do more than 1/3 of the dps. So lets see how that compares after next reload.
