WinEQ Not Launching Game

I'll see if anyone here has a quick answer before I tinker around too much.

I downloaded the new ROF2 client, extracted it to the same folder as my old UF install (backed up my UF install and removed the folder). My thought was, this would keep my WinEQ shortcuts and whatnot pointed to the same place without much reconfiguring. However, WinEQ won't launch THF. WinEQ works for any other servers that have been untouched. I even reconfigured one of the profiles and tried launching it again, still nothing. No errors or anything, just simply doesn't launch.

I also tried a fresh unzip of the ROF2_THF files, untouched other than running the patcher, still wont launch when using WinEQ.

Everything seems to run fine if I let it launch from the THF_Patcher.

Anyone have an idea why WinEQ wouldn't launch THF on a new ROF2 install? Thanks in advance!

Responding to my own post just in case someone else runs in to this issue down the road.

I did a fresh install on my laptop, had the same problem as my desktop (my main PC), except this time when I launched it actually gave me an error rather than simply not launching with no errors or anything. Error was: "The program can't start because VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing from your computer...". Quick google search suggested updating/re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.

Downloading and installing BOTH x64 and x86 versions of the most recent Visual C++ Redistributables (something like 2015-2019 Redistributable, just google it and grab the most recent from Microsoft site) resolved the issue.

I am having the exact same issue and have already grabbed those files.
I installed ROF2 on a new folder / drive and moved all my character configs I wanted to save over. If I launch from THF patcher everything works just fine. WinEQ is a hard no on working. If I say go to Nizzy's profile within WinEQ and point it back to my UF folder, it loads up just fine.

I know now it is for sure something in the THF ROF2 package I downloaded. I remembered I had another instance of ROF2 installed for another server from a couple years ago when THF was down. I just tried to launch that one and it worked fine.

I am going to build a new folder and install the THF mods and see what happens.

I assume you have, but just in case you haven't. Make sure you reboot after downloading and installing the Restributables, they're considered a Windows Update and will need a reboot to fully install.

It may be worth googling the missing .dll issue and trying to download some of the single 2015 or 2017 Restributables. Honestly I had to play around with it to get it to work right on my laptop, which is Windows 7. But just downloading the Restributables and rebooting worked like a charm on my desktop, which is Windows 10.

I also had the same issue you're describing. The THF_ROF2 didn't work. I downloaded a fresh ROF2 from another Emu and it didnt work. But I had a ROF2 from a year or so ago that worked fine. It made no sense.

Here's a screen cap of what my Programs & Features looks like on my desktop (Windows 10).

I already had the redistributes... Actually I tried to get them again just to make sure and I got an error telling me I had them already.

My only other suggestion would be delete the Redistributables you have and re-install them or try running a repair on them.

I saw a suggestions elsewhere to delete the VCRUNTIME140.dll file from the your System32 folder and then try running the repair when I was browsing around for solutions. I never made it to this step though.

Other than those, I'm out of suggestions. I had given up until I decided to try a fresh install on my laptop and received the "VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing" error on it to troubleshoot it.

Well since the client I had stored in another folder is now working fine. I'll just roll with it..

I would recommend never deleting anything, just rename it. If you rename it to OLD-(filename) or filename.old then you can revert back to it if you need to. If you delete it, there is no going back unless you can find another way to replace it.
