As someone who played a Rogue solo before I had my Cleric box, this makes no sense to me. Rogues solo just fine without donator weapons ... a lot faster than casters or a Cleric (found by experience, not hearsay)

Anyways, my take on the subject is that I don't mind people having super donator weapons. The costs of the server are really high and Lillu has personally taken a huge hit in the pocket book for it so I am glad he is even able to recoup some of his loses. If someone wants to donate enough for a custom weapon, that is their own prerogative.

However, my only concern is that you guys are blowing through content so stinking fast. In maybe 3 weeks you will be inside Sleepers (yes, it takes that long to kill when you can only do 2 keys per day while still competing with others), you will start having the same problems Evo did - nothing to do. Developing new zones takes a long time and I'm concerned people will fizzle out and leave, but I hope also that those who have spent money would also have the desire to stay through that since they spent their money.

I realize that you are worried about us leaving if we have nothing to do, but in all honesty i feel like you should let us play the game how we want, sleepers tomb in 3weeks awesome good for us. there are like 15 classes in the game, i have no other MMO's to play so until i have every class level 70 with 2.0 and fully raid geared and all the gear and tiers done then maybe ill quit.


Or until SWTOR comes out :X

Alright, thanks for the feedback everyone.

To summarize MY view on things - Donators need to be powerful, otherwise you can just ingore them and don't shell out 40 bucks for a virtual item.

In return, im 100% with Jeido.The balance needs to be found. Too powerful with retro-upgrading is a dangerous beast. I don't like this idea really. I believe Donator weapons are powerful enough (somoe might cross the line to being too powerful already, but let's not go there).

The reason why i was "more open" to item changes than i usually am (is that even possible?) is simply to make sure it's something that people would actually want. I never played a rog, Zerker etc so the unique clicks i want everyone to have is maybe total crap in the view of a veteran Rog.

I am on the other side on HD's side when they argue that 5 Donator weapons won't make or break a guild. Sure, its more DPS. But it's not like any of the Weapons has a Insta Click CH item or a Add +2000 AC Buff. It will help alot, even more so at lower levels since a proc alone will kill any mob below lev 10 i guess. But in the long run you need the dedication and Armor to sustain AEs or Rampage attacks.

The server is also much more polished now compared to what you encounters with Evolution like 3 months ago. More good items are available before even hitting SSra. Spells got improved (ancients for example), Druids and Priests were made into half reliable raid capable healers instead of buff and look pretty classes.

Anyways, bottom line is, we got the message and we will take this into account.

Case closed!

p.s. Zeek, consider yourself warned. This is a mature server for adults or grown up kids. If you don't fit into this category, google for EZ server. Everyone else think twice before making any stupid comments.

I take it as a personal privilege to help new members out with tasks to get them interested with the server (so they stay for the long run). I myself a long with other members I know have taken personnel time to help members who are not guilded to get gear, as a preview of what they can eventually do. Countless 1.5 runs and Kael armoring.

I am not sure how to word the next part. This is the best server on the Eqemu (plain and simple). I have not, nor will I ever donate money to this server. Not because I do not respect the admins of this server, on the contrary they have my personnel respect and admiration for the work they do (as with other internet projects I am associated with donation defeats the purpose).

I personally think the most any Member (not including the admin team) should ever be able to contribute to this server is dedication to helping other members. Making a sense of community; to show any new members that this server is the best there is and that the members and community care about each other. I view any other aspects financial and other to be the sole responsibility of the admin. I am new to this server (in the grand scheme of things), and I can tell from the forum posts that this server has longevity.

^^^ after reading what I wrote many times before I submitted, I please hope admin does not take anything personally. Everyone I have played with in Evolution has been a reminder of what EQ should have been since day one. Donator weapons will never, and I mean EVER replace good players. Those who have been helped by myself, and others; please repay that to other new players. That alone makes donator items inferior, compared with community.

I think Falcore has a good point here.

He sees both sides and in the end has chosen to take a certain route with his game play.


That is what people should be doing, not worrying about what everyone else is doing with their gameplay.

Be happy with your style of gameplay and focus on getting things fixed that truly effect your play.

Special donator items dont effect anyone but the owners gaming experience.

i typically sit on the fence on issues if i can, however this here seems to be a very sensative issue. i will state this clear and simply i am not asking for nerfs or buffs on donator weapons overall just mearly saying that the stretch in donator weapons seems to be a large gap from a select few being a bit underpowered or not so usefull to a couple select few being a bit over powered. yes i know you will ask for specifics but for the sake of avoiding a flame fest or drama i will leave those for the admins to decide if any.

i will acknowledge that i lack the objectivity to suggest a resolution of balance, however i do trust the capacity of our admins to let them judge. Simply put regardless of what we bicker or argue about here its their server and their choice what to do with it.
