i just started on the server, im in the starting area? trying to read what the info from the npcs and someone named Gawinne casts Dust Blast on my which is a 1h debuff making my ui black... is this what new players have to look forward to?

In short, no. Never heard of such a thing happening.

Check your toggle- seek out Morden (pvp status toggler) in the forest

What Bootzey said. Also, I'd imagine you are coming from some other server? Make sure you have a separate clean install for THF that you keep up to date with the THF patcher. Take a look at the getting started guide: viewtopic.php?f=51&t=14169 It's possible that someone tried to actually buff you to help you out, with a custom spell, and you got a debuff instead because of your out of date client files.

yeah, sorry was just new trying to read the npcs info and screen went black, i ended up deleting and remaking the char and it sorta happened again except with coyote wolf cub familiar that just kept making me look dead and bleeding out and unable to do anything, then i searched that orb and saw that i needed to update the spell files from forums , its all fixed now, sorry for the trouble, Ty for the replies
