This.
Download the installer from
http://www.lavishsoft.com/download/wineq2. You will have to create an account to run the program - it is free and I've yet to receive any sort of spam in years and years. After setting up your account, right click the icon in your system tray - get into EverQuest > Preferences folder and make sure you set the line that mentions patching to OFF - this does the same thing as adding the 'patchme' to the file path for your EQ launcher. Make sure the patch is pointing at your EQ directory, then go back to the WinEQ icon in system tray and launch from EverQuest > Default Profile. To set the window hotkeys you want to go into EverQuest > Preferences and you can set it per 'instance' of EQ. For example, the default to switch between windows is CTRL + ALT + # - I've changed it to be CTRL + # which works for me.
If you have trouble or something was unclear shoot me a PM and I'd be glad to help, or hit me up in game on Malistari.
