I'm not sure if this is an issue, but I ground out the 25 AA's to max Vicious Smash out. Ranks 1 through 3 provided an increase is bash damage, but 4 and 5 seemed to lower the damage. I'm currently bashing for a maximum of 282 (crit), and with rank 3 I saw several bashes above 300.
