Walkthrough
So you've been running around in that shiny new armor you got from the Temple of Veeshan. However, the elements have taken their toll on it and now the once lustre and shiny armor is faded. Time for a new set! Welcome to the Plane of Fire!
It could be, however, that you're not the raiding type and desire to upgrade that Kael armor you have. Well this walkthrough is for you too! There are two sets of armor available in the Plane of Fire and this walkthrough will discuss both since the method of obtaining them is similar in process, but different in difficulty.
Quest mob:
Hoogre is a Sporali man who is located deep in the heart of the Plane of Fire. He is located on the island past the second lava tube. The second lava tube is on the other side of the first castle once you pass under the feet of the three fiery phoenixes. His specific location is 1072, 1648.
Quest text:
You say, 'Hail, Hoogre'
Hoogre says, 'You look like you could use some new armor, Hans!'
Hoogre stares at you.
You say,'Yeah, my armor is old and rusty..'
Hoogre says, 'Yes, I can see that. Well, I can give you some advice how to obtain a shiny new set of priceless armor! But you have to listen to me carefully. First, find a Glowing Needle or Hammer, depending on what type of armor you wear. Second, you will need a Stone that also matches the type of armor you are using. Third, you'll need some Fluid. Combine all of this in a forge or sewing kit depending on what you would like to create out of the armor you might find in this zone.. and that is all, simple task, isn't it?'
You say,'Where do I find those stones?'
Hoogre says, 'You are lucky, I belive my friend Moug still has some of those for sale.'
You say,'Where do I find this Fluid?.'
Hoogre says, 'That's a bit tricky to get.. This plane has some rare materials, not found anywhere else to my knowledge. Find four strange materials, you will know what you need once you see it. Combine these in a forge or sewing kit with an Strange Fluid Essence.'
You say,'How can I get Strange Fluid Essence?'
Hoogre says, 'That's a bit tricky to get.. This plane has some rare materials, not found anywhere else to my knowledge. Find four strange materials, you will know what you need once you see it. Combine these in a forge or sewing kit with an Strange Fluid Essence.'
Hoogre says, ' Strange Fluid Essence is simple to obtain. Just brew two strange fluids in a barrel.'
Suggested level:
70 raid/group
The task:
A new set of armor is offered in the plane of Fire and this quest serves both the raider who has most or all of their ToV armor and also the non-raider who may be looking for an upgrade after the Kael set. Regardless of who you are, you are likely to work on this set of armor.
This set of armor is tradeskill based - different than any other set you've found before. However, one does not need high tradeskills to make the final product listed in the rewards section - that recipe is one which will not fail. Some of the pieces used to make the armor, however, are tradeskilled though and require 220+ skill with some mastery AA's.
The first thing you want to do, is find yourself a pattern/mold as this will be your hardest piece. Every piece of armor, all 56 of them, have different patterns and so finding your pattern is difficult. It would be very time consuming to list them all out, so here is a tip to help you:
- Each mini boss (for the strange set) or boss (for the powerful set) will drop the same items of each type. For example, lets look at the Obsidian War Spider. This guy will always drop a pattern/mold for the strange set and it is always for the feet slot.
You should become familiar with using the AllaKhazam Clone in order to find your patterns or molds because this tool is able to be used in finding many other items, the mob that drops it, and where this mob is located. Remember all the time you spent trying to find things in Guk? The AllaKhazam Clone could have shown you how!
Anyways, back to the armor ... once you've obtained a pattern or mold, the hard part is behind you. Now, you just need to grind trash mobs in PoFire and anything in the first field will suffice. The guys drop 7 different items of interest to us:
- Glowing Hammer (For plate or chain)
- Glowing Needle (For leather or silk)
- Strange Metal (For plate)
- Strange Chain (For chain)
- Strange Leather (For leather)
- Strange Silk (For silk)
- Strange Fluid (For everyone)
As you can see from the list above, you'll need only certain pieces for your armor, but you will find others. It is a good idea to keep materials to give to others and, who knows, you might make some more friends that way! Everyone will need the following per piece of armor to be made:
- 4x Strange <material> (plate/chain/leather/silk)
- 2x Strange fluid
- 1x Glowing <tool>
Now you need to find an experienced tradeskiller with skill of 250+ and no AA masteries or 220+ and 3/3 tradeskill masteries. The combines can be done with less of course, but this seems to be the minimum skill needed to minimize the failures. The tradeskills required for these steps are brewing, tailoring, and smithing.
The tradeskiller(s) will need to perform the following combines (in this order). I will use the metal as an example, but you can substitute metal with your required material:
- Strange Fluid Essence (Brewing) - 2x Strange Fluid
- Strange Metal Fluid (Smithing) - 1x Strange Fluid Essence + 4x Strange Metal
At this point you should have one of the following four items:
Whew! You are all done with the difficult parts! Now you just need to round up the remaining materials. NOTE: This will involve a tradeskill combine, but it is impossible to fail it!
Before going to the next step, you will need 5000pp and change depending on your charisma. The author spends between 5000 and 5100 to buy his piece.
Now you must go to the Plane of Fire and find Moug located at 1082, 1632 who is nearby where Hoogre, the quest NPC is (see above if you skipped that part). Moug sells 4 items and it is obvious which one you should need so make your purchase:
You brought the 5k and change I told you about right?
Ok, to recap you should now have the following:
- Your pattern or mold
- Glowing Hammer or Glowing Needle
- Strange <material> fluid
- Moug's purchased stone
Congratulations! You've collected all the materials you need! Now head to the forge or grab your sewing kit and go for it. Remember you can search for "Ele" (NOT "Elemental") for the elemental patterns or "Ornate" for the ornate patterns. You will get your hammer or needle back with the new reward.
The reward:
Depending on your class armor type (plate, chain, leather, silk) and on if you used an ornate or elemental pattern (ornate for strange and elemental or powerful), you will get the following rewards:
