Drop rates on the drake parts are imo ridiculous. A guildie and myself have cleared west and north tov's trash mobs roughly 10 or more times in the last three days (I'm working through it now again myself) and neither have seen a drake kidney which we both need to finish.

I understand the idea of random drops and how its possible for this to happen, the point is that there's no reason for the drop rate to be so low. For Charm 3.0 you kill the royals in Chardok and each royal is guaranteed to drop two heads. Mobs in the epic weapons quests all drop multiple quest pieces every time etc.

The quest could be improved by simply taking each of the four drake colors in tov (red, black, blue, green) and give them an amplified chance maybe 50% to drop a certain part and no others, then make the glimmerings have the same rate but drop from the pool of four parts and remove the drops from the wyverns and wurms since after all, they're drake parts for a drake essence.

I haven't started in on the ST phase yet, but I imagine the drop situation is the same and if so I would recommend that be addressed accordingly as well.

As I understand it, the quest is intended to increase the strength of the charm as the character increases in strength and progression rather than the ability to farm drops.

i have to agree that the drake parts are a bit rare. I spent like 4 weeks trying to get a stupid drake gut, and since i got mine, i've only seen 1 other one drop. We've done many clears of NToV/WToV and never had any drake parts drop.

The ST pieces are actually a lot more common, just clearing the trash to the 2.5 mobs we had enough for a couple people to get all the pieces needed.

I think the drop rate in ST is good, maybe a slight increase (however certainly not needed), but agree that the drop rate in ToV needs a major improvement.

I completed the ToV part in 1 run for the SK our guild is working on, we didn't even have to clear the entire west wing. I think you are just unlucky good sir.

Edit: I also completed the ST part in about a half clearing.

You aren't alone. :-) That was brutal. I have done the charm quest on 6 toons and only once was it a simple matter. Every other time I was mass clearing ToV to get the parts. Maybe it makes the reward that much sweeter once you put the effort out to complete it. :-)

I know, I know. But at least now you know you aren't alone. :-P I spent a week murdering everything in Ssra once for an Emp key for one of my toons. That was about the most brutal, next to the 42 lady M kills prior to getting an orb.

Finally got the kidney, but still think the drop rate could use some sort of tweaking.

Mikuz, I have a suggestion that I believe is very fair for the server population. If you would like the drop rates to remain the same, maybe you can do a "Tear fragment" type deal. Leave drop rates the same, but allow the final dragon in ToV, Vullaak to drop the completed drake essence. It would allow player's that are on par with the charm difficulty to farm the trash for the pieces and the players past ToV difficulty to go in, and kill Vullak. Im sure people would not mind if you reduced the number of Blood of the Elder drops to make room for 1 or 2 Drake Essences. Thanks in advance.

Personally, I love the idea of each "part" dropping from only a certain color of drake at a higher rate with the glimmering having a lower chance of dropping any of the 4. Then, I would randomize the spawns so that any of the 5 drake types could pop from each drake spawn point. This would keep the intended randomness all the while creating a "hunt" aspect. I think this would give some depth to an otherwise excruciatingly boring quest.
