Epic 2.0 bug?

Turned in 4 icy emblems and powerful temper to Irontoe last night (have the quest printed out and check off each step). Today I go running around gathering books and visit the Dragon Sage. Hail him and get some text about Frozen tear but nothing about books. I try and hand him the books and he just looks confused.

Buy another temper because Irontoe said to. Go visit Irontoe again hand him temper and he says see Dragon sage about books. Go see dragon sage, hail him and get different text about a recipe. Say 'ancient weapon' and he tells me to gather books, give him the 4 books just gathered and bingo, Epic flag updated.

Char, Ybus.

Dragon sage still broken

no response from him (quest followed step by step, stand near him, asked about ancient frozen material, etc etc)

I'll check this when I get home from work, but I'm 90% sure it's a targeting thing.

If you get a chance, give this a try:
[1] Make sure you're within melee distance of the NPC
[2] Target yourself
[3] Target the NPC

Usually this happens when someone targets the NPC from too far away. Players often /target an NPC when they first zone in, and while they show up on the target bar, the targeting relationship isn't actually established with the server until you are closer. This is only fixed by changing your target and then retargeting the NPC.

Further, every NPC has a reaction radius of sorts. You've seen it with aggro, and it's similar for interacting with chat. Chatting with an NPC involves a valid target and a valid distance. I'm guessing one of these was invalid in your situation.

If you don't mind giving that a try and reporting back, that'd be great. I'll still check on it tonight, regardless.
