Epic 3.0 Feedback.

I hate that my first post is going to be not going to be all rainbows and butterflies, but the other posts I've been meaning to make are a lot longer than this one. This one is also a bit more pressing for me, personally.

Let me start by saying that I love this server, the community, and the developers I've interacted with. THF is by far one of the best, most engaging Emu servers I've ever played on, and I've been playing on Emu for 5+ years. Considering that, you can imagine my surprise when I started my cleric's 3.0 to only find out that it was a grind, and a particularly brutal one at that. If you get unlucky, you could spend days on each task, and that is assuming that you are killing all day, everyday. I, personally, play for fun, and not one aspect of this quest is fun (that I've encountered; rumor has it the raids are fun). One of the best parts about THF is that timesinks aren't really a thing here. Sure, upper end aug/point farming and such might seem like a timesink, but you can do it with friends, it's constantly rewarding, etc. This is the only absolute, devoid of fun and purpose timesink I've encountered on this server, and I don't really understand why that is the case. Epic quests should involving killing epic monsters and be an epic journey (the 1.5 and 2.0 both felt like this, as much as they could), not an epicly soul-crushing timesink. As a main, non-donor cleric (you heard right), I am not in any position to pass up getting the epic, for the click alone. To be clear, I am not asking for this quest to be easy or short. Shoot, I'd rather have to clear DSK3 repeatedly than sit here for weeks on end hoping I get lucky. What I am asking for is a quest that reflects what has been set forth as the precedent for how this server is run (which can totally include, to some small extent, time-sinky farming). I know you guys are super busy, and I'm not trying to stomp my feet to get my way, so I'd like to offer solutions in an attempt to be proactive. I will happily write a challenging quest for you (minus the coding, which is half the work, I know), one that you can even use as a mold for all classes (since it seems odd only 3 classes have their 3.0s, especially considering the quests all seem to be farming timesinks). This would relatively easily add more, accessible, enjoyable content for people to engage in. I hope this at least sparks a discussion. I know population has been low lately, but I love it here and want nothing more than to see us thrive. Thanks for listening/verbally decapitating me.

P.s. I'm sorry if this necroed something that has been talked about before; searching these forums aren't easy, since the threshold for what is considered "too common" is very low in the search bar. Even if necroed, I'd still like to have a new discussion about it.

Thank you for your feedback, it's much appreciated.

I can agree you got many valid points here. Indeed epic 3.0 (solo) is brutal when it comes to time sink and that's something we don't encourage at all but for once we wanted to make sure that obtaining epic 3.0 weapons is not "read the wiki and be done in a day" quest. If you or anyone else got suggestions, never hesitate to post them! One thing to note though, it's often the coding part that takes a very long time to implement an idea. I'd say it's not 50% but 95% of the work, unfortunately.

Players submitted quests are always welcome and much appreciated (I know for a fact that Vaion will be really happy to accept your offer as he was sidetracked by other things lately and was looking for assistance particularly with epic 3.0 quest lore). If you are willing to do so, please post a quest submission or just start a discussion in the petition subforum so it's seen by all DEVs yet not spoiling the community with the quest details. I might later create a new subforum for this actually if you are serious about all the class quests.

Again, thank you very much for your feedback. Your comments make complete sense and your offer shows that you are serious about helping out which is greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to see a petition pop up from you in soon. 8-)

Thanks for being so receptive to the idea!

One side note, I don't fully understand why people keep saying the solo portion of the quest is notable for being a timesink. You're not the first person to say this. However, basing my data off the Allaclone, the solo task's droprates are 20x higher than the portions of the quest that is required regardless of solo or raid choice (if this is not supposed to be how it is, don't you dare fix it, lol). This is the case for cleric, at least. One of the solo tasks in cleric epic has 100% drop rate on the items and the mobs are static. The other has a 100% drop rate on the loot table to drop 1 of the 4 items necessary. And the last is also 100%. So I'm not understanding why solo tasks are seen as a timesink, especially not in comparison to the rest of the quest.

This aside (I can't stress this enough), we are still looking at 17 5% drop rate items. 9 of these are 5% off one single mob, where as the other 8 are 5% off 4-6 static spawns. This is not including the solo or raid tasks. An interim idea might be to make these drop rates 10% until a new quest can be implemented? Just a thought. I'll start putting something together.

few things Sunlight :
- keep in mind that indeed sometimes you need one specific drop out of 4 mobs that have no ph. Means it can take a while.

- some mobs drop 100% of the time the item but they are rare drop.

- the overall droprate of the mobs is supposed to be raised as the epics are released (don't have numbers in my head right now). In other words, when wizard and rogue epics are released, there should be a slightly boost to droprate. (by the way, any idea V of when you will launch them since they are ready more or less for a little while now ? )

So basically, yeah the solo tasks are much longer than the raid, unless you are extremely lucky and drops. And you can trust me when I say that since I did 4 clerics (solo and raids), almost 2 warriors and 2 shaman (solo and raid). Of course, solo just requires time whereas raid require raid force and lots of strategy (sometimes its both at a time, sometimes it's just brutal force, sometimes it's more strategic).

Hmm giving the community a chance to contribute 3.0 quest lines is a great idea. Is that extendable to additional content as well? ;)

My initial figure was incorrect, it is actually 21 5% drop rate items for the RAID task. It is still a horrendous timesink, regardless.

I will give you some advice on this topic as you and I have similar play styles. ~Come to grips that you will never own a 3.0. =)

Sian is referring to the global drop rates. Not all the other rare drops in the quest. The global drop rates was going to increase as 3.0's got released. You still need to sit in specific zones killing the same green mobs for hours on end.

The thing that killed me was the foraging on the warriors quest. I had 8 foragers in zone for..... I forget now.....DAYS! Not fun.

I will say that the quest does work. Epics were suppose to be difficult to get. Everyone has up to the 2.0's. I don't know the numbers but guessing very few have the 3.0's
