Can't Connect When I Select "Play"

I followed the instructions and downloaded everything, as far as I can tell. Did the EQ executable first, then the hidden forest downloader. Made it through installation; however, when I select "Play" my screen blinks black quickly, as if I'm on my way in....then just directly back to the screen where you select "Play."

Any thoughts?

Which EverQuest client are you trying to play with? UF, RoF2?
