Kael zone in problem

I tried to zone my monk and cleric into Kael today and keep getting kicked back to log in screen, Server not responding error. I can zone into any other zones without getting kicked back to the log in screen. I have tried on 2 different computers and same results. Any clue why this his happening??? I need to get my monk into Kael to get an epic item I still need. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming it is server related because 2 different computers get same problem. Thank you. i have reinstalled kael files on both pcs and still same problem - server not responding then disconnected. As far as I can tell this is the only zone doing this to me - any ideas???

Kael is perfectly fine.. I suspect a damaged file in your eq directory.

Have you been able to zone into Kael previously?

It might be a bad file from your installation disks.

Well, I was able to zone into Kael perviously the day this problem started with one of my characters then got booted. I find it hard to believe that both of my computers have corrupted Kael files at the exact time. Also, I was able to log in and zone into Kael on other servers with no problem at all. Seems that THF is the only server that I cannot zone into Kael without getting booted out of game. Does this make sense? Maybe after a reboot I will be able to zone back in, idk. How would i go about reinstalling the Kael files; which I think will not help due to the fact that it is on both my computers with totally different eq installs etc. Server not responding and disconnected is what I get with THF server only every time. Where can I get some specific help??? Thank you, Stymee.

What client are you using?

What level are the characters?

What zone are you going through, or are you using the fairy?

Does it always happen to all characters or is it specific characters, does it always happen 100%?

Have you tried rebooting your computer?

Did both installs come from the same source? (CD, download etc)

Have you modified your client in any way other than the suggested files? (Custom UI, moving between other servers with the same install, etc)

i had a similar problem with Guk. I had a friend send me the 2 or 6 guk files and i overwrote the ones i had and everything was fine again. Dunno why it happened but they were corrupt none the less.

If you have another installation i'd copy those over the one you can't log into kael with.

Answer to the questions:

Kael worked fine for over year, all characters are 70, not switching between any servers, happens whether using fairy or zoning in from wk or ew maps, happens 100 percent of the time on all characters. Which files exactly do i need to delete and replace??? I just find it hard to believe that both separate computers with different install etc. would both be corrupted at the exact same time and if it was the original install disc why would Kael be no problem up until the other day after over year on THF??? This doesn't make sense to me. I need to know exactly which files need to be replaced if you could help me with that I will give it a try. If that doesn't work I guess I can reinstall eq from another source but like I said I tried to zone into Kael on another server to check that out and my toon zone in just fine. Why is it that I can zone into Kael on other server and not on THF anymore? When will the next server reboot take place?
Any help would be appreciated. This is upsetting; I need to get my monks epic stuff from here, almost done with it. Thank you. Stymee

There are tons of things that could cause it, if I had to guess I would say a corrupt file or combination of our global load file and another servers custom files such as old school wolf models or other specific changes. Other servers do not necessarily use the same files or models we do. I can say with almost certainty from years of experience (as others have said) that it is a client side issue, so I would suggest trying these in order until it works:

1: Turn off your computer for 30 seconds or so, load everything back up and try again

2: Replace all Kael files to be safe: kael.s3d, kael.xmi, kael_2_obj.s3d, kael_chr.s3d, kael_obj.s3d, kael_sndbnk.eff, kael_sounds.eff

3: fresh install eq with only the custom files and no 3rd party/UI changes

Well, I did complete re-install twice and still will not zone into Kael on THF server. I do not use any 3rd party ui/files either. The install went smoothly both times. I have used this install disc with no problems on 3 different pcs in the past and had no problem zoning into Kael on THF for over a year. I just don't think this problem is client side at all. Like I said it happened on 2 separate pcs at the exact same time. "Server not responding" "You have been disconected" only when zoning characters into Kael on THF server on both my computers in home. I was in Kael a few days before this problem occurred with no problem and now nothing. Any other suggestions? Would a server reboot maybe fix this in the future?? I need to be able to get into Kael. This is most frustrating to me. Please help. Thank you, Stymee

Over 40 people have zoned into Kael today with no problems =/ I've done it with 3 different chars on 3 different PC's. There isn't much it could be server side, it's either up or down.

I know it's frustrating, but we are trying to help, and we know these issues from experience, I've had it happen even on live servers and I've seen tons of other players with corrupted zone files.

You are thinking logically and logic and EQ don't mix at all =P

You need Kael files from another working source before we try anything else (I would ask a guildmate or friend)
