You can't say that this server is not druid's'friend. For solo content they are able to solo or have and keep alive a bot much better than wiz for example. Its just that their utility lies within a group/raid because they make others better. I fully agree though that they don't function the way they did on live, like shaman or chanter and even necro. Lack of summon is great but its existence wasnt that bad from all points of view.
I personally feel when druid or chanter arent there, which means I love them !

Well, I DO play my Druid as my main. I love her. =)

Their pet is really sad dps, but druid dps was mainly from DoTs and occasional nukes. My understanding is that druid pets were originally designed to help by being the druid's tank, any dps the pet did was bonus. That's the reason most of their pets are bears, not slick little kitties. Sadly, my high level pet doesn't last 2 seconds in any fight at lvl 70.

Soloing as a druid here is pretty hard. I have a few donor items and I STILL have a hard time. Mostly it's hard because everything summons, so rooting and standing back is not an option. Nor is hitting them with slow and kiting. Then there are a few mobs that have high spell resists, and spells really need to land to do damage or debuff. ;) That is something that effects lots of spell casting classes for solo work though.

For many years I played a Druid as my main on Live. Before and after the summoning nerf/nightmare. For anyone that didn't play a Druid or one of the other kiting classes (Wiz/Nec) you can't really appreciate what these toons were able to do. When I got fed up with the Druid nerfs, I went to playing a Nec as my main. Still the issue with summoning was there, but the Necromancer was a little more resilient.. when the $#I! hit the fan, there was always FD!

Anyway, I guess it all boils down to romantic nostalgia. There were a lot of things in the game way back when that were good and bad. Not that I expect anyone to remove summoning from the game at this point. It just happens to be my biggest peeve of all time in EQ. I keep threatening to create my own server, perhaps someday I will. But I really don't have the time and desire to do so at the moment.

There are some really great things this server has going for it. So, please don't think I don't appreciate that fact. I am realistic enough to know that my concerns are not everyones. Most of the time I sit back and listen to everyone else bitch and I say nothing. But, sometimes I feel the need to voice my 2 cents. So.. that done.. I bid you good evening..

Although I would still like to take my druid out for some fun... :-)

P.S. Nice to see you on the forums Kalenyo. How are your kitties?

zRush wrote:Hahaha.. summons! The single worst mistake ever added to the game! I remember when the original EQ crew added summoning to mobs to defeat Druids way back when. It was a kludge fix then and it unfortunately never went away. I had always hoped I would find a server where the admins felt the same and removed it completely! Oh well..

As for the Druid tho.. I do wish this server was more Druid friendly. Running my crew of bots is ok, but I wish there was solo content that would entice people to actually play a character. I miss that.

I don't know about you, but adding a 3 rank Anti Summon AA at 100 points per rank would be awesome.

Rank 1 - 33 Percent chance to resist summon
Rank 2 - 66 Percent chance to resist summon
Rank 3 - 100 Percent chance to resist summon

Could call them:

Rank 1 - Nope!
Rank 2 - Nope! Nope!
Rank 3 - Nope! Nope! Nope!

ps.. I'd have no idea how to code that since Summon isn't really a spell as far as I can tell, but an embedded function. It might take some very serious code changes to implement and break all kinds of things.

Or making it so it took more damage to actually cause the summon. As it stands right now if I happen to crit with my bow I get summoned.
