Re: Are people finding platinum to have low appeal?

Personally I am in a give and take position on the idea of a vendor selling the 50 point symbol. Thing is, while reading through this post, most ppl I see that is against this being done is those, that will remain nameless, that make X millions of plat by farming them when that droped of the 2 HoH bosses and now there source of uber income is gone. With this in mind the one that held these boss on lock down so they could farm all those symbol are the reason all the 'Extra' work to need to be done to HoH.

Now I will have to agree with Beatboxin in that these quarrels over insignificant issues does put an even longer hold on new content. New content is what people truly crave.

Also the allowance of ingame loots to be traded for donors, imo, should not be allowed. This, again IMO, is another cause of plat being useless due to ppl getting all the good items and instead of using them or selling in bazaar they put together packages in hopes of donors. Augs and loots from this past Xmas event are prime examples.

Another idea would be more Attunable gear that can be sold. With just about every piece of upper tier gear being no drop it drastically reduces the quantity of goods for sell. Other then Symbols there is really nothing of interest for someone T7 or better to spend plat on.

This is just my 2 cents on the deall like it or hate it. :)

This. I hope, honestly, that this is disallowed on both the forums, and in-game global chat. I've been playing, and watching the forums, on this server since 2 weeks after the server was launched. Only recently have I seen anyone offering in-game items in exchange for donors. It's a trend that will lead to inevitable, but point-of-no-return, problems, guaranteed.

Not really the right thread for it but I have to agree it should not be allowed, once someone was given the OK to sell in-game items for donor items/packages things started to go downhill for PP and only got worse when the "trend" caught on. It's one thing to donate to the server for someone else just because or for help or w/e because it is your money. However when it starts to happen with in game items as currency it's not only going to just cause problems, it's definitely adding to the "no use" of PP.

Well, by reading some of you, and if the price remains at 8k (and again, this is a wonderful idea to me to make a symbols vendor) I realize something :

- I have never ever been above the 2,5 million pp both on my personnal or guild bank account (as I am in charge of it), even when I was selling dozens and dozens of t8 spells (purchasable or not) + event items. And I spent quite some time there...

- I guess I must have forgot how easy is to farm pp because I have never really done this (besides when I was hunting kodiaks or hivequeen for augs).

So one of us is not in a "normal" situation, out of reality of every player. Guess it's me

Anyway, Gms will decide. I just hope that this whole debate about price will stop (before the idea of creating a vendor disappears from Gms's idea) because we have, I think, said everything, and Gms have now enough opinion and materials to decide a fair price. Maybe we can come back to the topic of different ways to spend the pp.

Aye, I hope this idea hasn't been tabled over price bickering :( Plenty of opinions/information have been given on both sides of the debate. Everyone, on either side of it, can agree this will give significant value to platinum once again. Now on to other ideas for platinum: AA pots from merchants :P

No, the idea is great, we won't scratch is because of some argument. Regardless, we need more ideas, we plan to implement more than one idea, so keep it flowing please.

And to make it clear offering ingame goods for donor items is not a trend by any means. Just because players try to do it more often than before, it doesn't mean it's actually happening more, if at all.

What I meant was that if it's not curtailed early, it could turn into a trend. I didn't meant to imply that it was already at that point yet.

Sorry for the de-rail, though.

Aye there are only a select few on the server with over 2.5mil at a time. Most ppl dont even have an interest in farming plat because its been worthless just about, that or decent items like 65ac augs cost 650k-1mil which is downright crazy. And then there are those who have 20mil+ and openly brag about it in ooc ect and lets be honest they are the only ones on server who can afford these crazy prices. Also i noticed something funny, some of the ppl with said crazy amounts of plat and gear (Donor included) are the ones complaining the most about the changes and are shooting down some good ideas. One especially which will remain nameless, Disagrees with symbols being sold cheap and disagreed with ppl trading items for donor, which i agree should not be the main server economy. The sad part of this is same person who holds most of the server wealth. held a horde of symbols that he openly tried trading ppl over marketplace forums to trade for DONORS (on more than one occasion) and wouldn't sell for plat to players ("Because its worthless") who were trying to progress at the time and at this time were blocking the Recently FIXED 3 events in HoH that dropped said symbols.

So with that being said,

Lets get back to PRODUCTIVE ideas that will benefit the MAJORITY of the server and develop a sound economy for the player base we have and hopefully generate some changes that will bring more ppl over to our server. Lillu and Viaon are working very hard to make this server better and actually care for your opinions, which actual SoE did not care what you wanted to see in game. This server is what we make it as a community working with Lillu and Viaon, so lets keep the ideas coming and drama at a minimum.

omg im gonna have to actually start looting gems now

Can these be made purchasable? They are cool, not too OP, but they dont last very long and take a while to farm via the current method.

sparkling gem of life - webtools/items.php?id=121361
sparkling gem of str - webtools/items.php?id=121360

there is a 3rd one that does something about endurance but i dont have it and dont recall the name.

In the same vain as HoH symbols then shouldn't there be an Adventure Token vendor as well for those that are not yet HoH flagged? It still just gives you points which in turn allows you to purchase armor / augs.

For Tradeskills - instead of trainers how about making tradeskill items buyable and the items they produce basically worthless - I don't tradeskill so the only item that comes to mind is Deepwater Inks for alchemy.

Other items --
Bought item required for combine in class ring quest
Bought item in VP access quest
DSK I / II - bought item for Head Quest, Vampire Earring Quest, Chains Quest
Bought item for HoH Access quest
Bought item in 2.5/2.8 quest
Bought item for Xegony island quest
Charge by quest givers in DSK3 for armor / weapon upgrades

Bought token for Nadox access, Chaos Access , DSK3 Access, HoH Bosses (one token for each or token for all outside of chaos), Plane of Fear, Plane of Fire

Tokens similar to keys that only have to be on the character the first time zoning in then can be destroyed. They do not bypass what is already required for that access, just an addition.

I am not saying I want these things but are some ideas of how to make platinum required. They would have to be added into the new zones as well to continue to pull platinum from the server. The two things that are required by everyone on the server is change zones and kill mobs - the rest (tradeskills, non-access quests, achievement items, etc.) are done by a % of people. Anyone that boxes a # of characters and remembers how RZ, TZ, VZ were originally done does not want to have to pay to teleport.
