With my Druid's pet assassinating, I actually enjoyed having the Druid in my group.. and was enjoying the benefits of Druid buffs as well.. now the Druid has lost a lot of its sparkle. Why would you do that? Give us a perk just to take it away?
And that's not to mention how much I liked my other pets being able to assassinate as well. I am not all decked out in $1000 worth of donator gear so all the dps I could get really helped.
Color me really peeved..

Pets and NPCs aren't supposed to have assassinate. When they made the change to backstab for rogues, it unintentionally changed pets and npcs. Just a fix to bring them back in line.

As Yaeger stated, NPCs and pets were never intended to have the assassinate ability.
They did not have it before the changes that went in on April 17th and it was not caught because there are hundreds of other things that the devs do/fix nearly every single day. This was only caught because there were some bug reports of NPCs assassinating players from full HP to death with 1 shot due to a calculation bug. When we got the bug report we investigated why NPCs were doing that, which led to us realizing that NPCs and pets were not even meant to have the ability.
We apologize for the players that thought the bug was a new feature and there has already been talk about adding pet special attacks as a new AA in upcoming content so that players can legitametly purchase the boosts in pet DPS.

Thank you for the clarification, Vaion. Although I still don't appreciate the change, I accept your apology! (lol, I am teasing!)
I am still peeved tho.. after the change to the pets waaay back when.. I decided to level up a druid for utility and because the pet actually was worthy of using. Take away the assassinate, and the druid pet is pretty worthless. Sorry, but it's the truth. Kinda makes the whole process a waste of time now. I was really enjoying having the druid around. Now I have to kick the druid for something more useful. I truly wish you would re-evaluate this change. The druid could really use the love. And it could hardly unbalance anything.
And toss the folks that can't afford to burn mega $$ on a game a bone.. it'd be nice.

I think Vaion explained it to you and believe me there is no "we want to nerf druids the most because we hate them" 
Honestly, I don't know where you stand in terms of progression but believe me that in late tiers, druid pets are as useless as shaman's. Maybe next expansion or the next one will bring new pets through aa / spells for those two class, maybe not.
Right now the only valuable pet they can get is the one being summoned by Draekon statue in hoh which is way better than their pet spells.
But believe me, it won't change the utility of those two class which are fantastic support class. In late tiers, shaman and druids are a must have in raids, so you will feel loved because you will boost everyone's dps. Point of those two class is to help others dealing more damage. Of course they could use some innate boost to make them dps better (and in that field, I would say that shaman are way behind druid) but I am sure you will learn to live with it but again, that's not their main "role" in a raid.
Oh and I don't run donor robe mage or necro, I live with their pet spells, and I'm happy with it (though donor's are ubber, just for their riposte immunity).
Keep your druid, you will be loved one day ^^

Druid is an awsome toon to heal / buff / debuff / dot / nuke / assist on groups
Dont park him cuz the pet do not assasinate now ... its just a -1 vs all the +1 druids have.

yeah druids are elite, to bad they are mainly boxed bots, if this server was more solo oriented and w/o summons I would definitly play one

Hahaha.. summons! The single worst mistake ever added to the game! I remember when the original EQ crew added summoning to mobs to defeat Druids way back when. It was a kludge fix then and it unfortunately never went away. I had always hoped I would find a server where the admins felt the same and removed it completely! Oh well..
As for the Druid tho.. I do wish this server was more Druid friendly. Running my crew of bots is ok, but I wish there was solo content that would entice people to actually play a character. I miss that.
