Shared timers

However it happened through the switch, there are some funky things going on with some spells either casted or clicked.

First, True Command and the Sacred Word spell lines are on the same lockout timers. Before the new client, this wasn't so.

Second, you can cast the Sacred Word spell and then promptly use a Sacred Word clicky, but if you use the Sacred Word clicky then you are locked out of using the casted spell gem til the item cooldown resets. This only applies to the spells of the same rank, so I can use a Rk I click item along with a Rk II spell and there will be no issue.

The click vs gems thing always made me wonder. Maybe we can look to change it.

We'll look into true command and sacred word. Just to confirm, we didn't change this. The two spells definitely don't share a group (I double checked).

I'd have to say I always thought the fact they didn't was a bit op but we're not going to change that now. We'll see if we can work out why it's linked.

The spell description says they both share the same timer - Timer:6

So, if you are still looking into this, the 2 spells have been given the same shared timer of 6. This has been done on both the spells_us file which is distributed to players, as well as with the server files as nulling the entry in the spells_us removes it showing on the spells description, but leaves it unable to be recast effectively until the timer has run its course.

Not sure how the server updating to using the rof2 client would have anything to do with this change as it is a deliberate change to the spells files both on the servers database and the client spells_us files. You either have an entry setting a spell to have a specific reuse timer or you do not.

If i missed some update note which states that this is now intended and permanent for these 2 spells to share a timer then i apologize, however if not please fix.

I hadn't checked that because I remember clicking versus gems wasn't restricted the same way pre rof2, at least that's how I remember. I thought maybe they shared a spell group, which would restrict casting but they don't (they probably should, it's a direct upgrade). But sharing the same timer has the desired effect anyway.

They've always had the same reuse timer though. I checked a backup spell file from 2013 and both of these spells share the timer. We didn't change anything to do with these spells at all in the last several years.

It's very possible that there's a server rule that separates timers between items and gem casting, and that could very well have changed when we migrated to rof2 because we were forced to pretty much set the new client/dB up from scratch; though I admit we didn't look into it yet.

I'll ask the wizard, see if he can work it out. But I'm not convinced the paladin needs to be using multiple aoe taunts past the two it has without this bypass of the timer.

Edit: asked the wizard, there's no rule. It's just likely rof2 fixed something that was broken.

These spells were always intended to share timers so...

So working as intended now, a shame Underfoot is all but unplayable on windows 10 now.

Thanks for the reply

Perhaps. In my experience the paladin was never really struggling for aoe agro even without chain casting the three different types this way.

But we are reviewing all classes and tanks will all get a pass over.
