winEQ Question (Running 5 boxes)

Hello All,

As the title suggest, I had a question pertaining to winEQ. For starts, I typically run 4 boxes and leverage a UF Client. I have no issues running 4 boxes, however, whenever I load a 5th box, boxes 1 and 5 become and remain very laggy. Mind you, it doesnt matter which characters are loaded in 1 and 5, only those boxes remain laggy. Box 2, 3, and 4 are completely fine.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? What was the workaround?

Any feedback appreciated.

Think it might be the CPU that is limiting you. Looking at the specs it has 4 cores. So first client loads to 0, second to 1, third to 2, fourth to 3 and then back to 0.
Or at least that is how EQ reports it in the ini.
So no matter what you load first and fifth they share a core. Have you looked at info pertaining to core parking?

I'm by no means certain this is your issue. A minor factor could also be the GPU but you would require a really really old card to tax it at only 5 clients. RAM shouldnt be an issue with the UF client @ 5 clients. None of them should be using more then 750mb if you had most/all settings on and that takes into account how much ram windows is reserving.

As I have no idea what your settings are, I would make a copy of the eqclient.ini in a safe place and edit the one in the eq folder and see if you can get that 5th client in.

Myself I have the ram to support full settings @ 3groups but I still turn off everything.

I've been meaning to tear down the global load file for THF but just havn't gotten around to it yet. A lot of models do not need to be globally loaded when we can force them per zone instead but thats not on topic.

Open your eq folder and run optionseditor.exe and let me know how many models you have check marked on the first page and on the second page let me know what all the settings are set to. Then click cancel so it doesn't save and overwrite your current one unless you do make the backup. (It'll mess with your resolution, if you use a standard reso then it wont matter but I run a custom reso and I have to manually fix it any time I use that options editor.)

I found this post EXTREMELY helpful.

http://www.thehiddenforest.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=204&t=9195

I made 2 copies of my EQ file and run one as Main chars with some graphics and the others at the reduced options shown in this post. I went from running 4-6 but with lag to being able to run 11 if I wanted.

Running one group has been made lagfree with only my leader on the fuller graphics mode.

Yeh, running a slave copy for your boxes is so useful if you are struggling with performance.

Sorry for the extremly long delayed response. When i ran the .exe, Everything one both pages was Checked, with the exception of Social Animations.

In addition, the texture quality was set to High.
