Since I conducted my implementation tests directly within the `mq2itemdisplay` plugin, I ultimately decided to drop that approach. Instead, I chose to integrate the functionality directly into my own plugin, allowing for simpler and more seamless features that are tightly integrated with both my plugin's logic and the supporting database.

After fully bypassing the EverQuest client’s display engine and resolving some reverse engineering challenges, I now have complete dynamic control over the interface.

Still tweaking text alignment and positioning—wouldn't be fun otherwise!

New features:

- 3 display modes: Item stats only, Item + Augs, and Equipped comparison

- Full stat coverage, including those only visible on Magelo: skills, Bane damage, bonus effects, and more

- Replaced verbose effect details with a clickable link that opens the server-specific Magelo page for the item

[Plugin Update] Massive Item Display Overhaul!

Hey everyone!

I'm excited to announce a major update to the item display window. The goal was to make it smarter, clearer, and much more useful for quickly evaluating whether an item is an upgrade for you or your alternate characters (bots).

Here’s a rundown of the new features:

1. Smart Stat Coloring System

Gone are the days of all-white stats! Now, every stat is color-coded based on its importance for a given class.

The color scheme follows a "rarity" progression that you'll instantly recognize:
    - Gray: Low or no value stat.
    - Green: Useful stat.
    - Blue: Good stat.
    - Purple: Excellent stat (Epic).
    - Orange: Primary, must-have stat (Legendary).
    - Gold: Perfect, near Best-in-Slot stat (Artifact).
How it works:
Each stat has a "weight" (from 0 to 10) defined for every class. A high Strength for a Warrior will be purple, while Intelligence will be gray. This lets you see at a glance which stats matter most on an item.

2. Powerful and Intuitive Comparison Tool

Item comparison has been completely redesigned. When you inspect an item, two new dropdown menus will appear:

Menu 1: Compare for... [You] Guismo
    - Select which character you want to evaluate the item for. The list includes your current character and all of your alts (bots) who can equip the item.
    - The item's [Score] will dynamically update for the selected character!
Menu 2: Compare with... [R. Wrist] Lucid Cuffs of Talriem
    - This menu lists all the items the selected character has equipped that could be replaced by the item you're inspecting.
    - The number in brackets, like [+2.3K], shows you the NET score gain if you make the swap. It's the fastest way to know if it's an upgrade!
    - When you select an item to compare, all stats in the window update to show the difference:
      - Gains are shown as (value), colored according to the stat's weight.
      - Losses are shown in in red.

3. Clickable Web Links for Items and Spells

To make information even more accessible, item names and spell effects in the display window are now clickable links!
    - Click an item's name to open its page on The Hidden Forest item database in your web browser.
    - Click a spell effect's name (like a "Clicky" or "Proc") to open its detailed description on The Hidden Forest spell database.
No more manually searching for item or spell details online!

4. Stat Weights Configuration

To make the color and scoring system work perfectly for your playstyle, you can customize the "weights" of each stat. Just go to the plugin window and click on the "Stat weights" tab.

You have two modes:

Guided Assistant Mode (Simple Configuration)
    - Simple and fast. Choose your class and primary role (Tank, DPS, Healer...).
    - Use a few simple sliders to set your priorities (e.g., "I prefer Attack over Defense").
    - The plugin automatically adjusts the weights of dozens of stats in the background.

Expert (Cards) Mode (Advanced Configuration)
    - For experts who want full control.
    - You'll see a table with every stat and can adjust each weight individually from 0 to 10 for every class.
    - The sliders are even color-coded to reflect the current weight!

In Summary

    - Instant Visual Evaluation: Colors tell you what's important.
    - Simplified Comparison: The net score gain gives you the answer immediately.
    - Quick Info Access: Clickable web links for items and spells.
    - Full Customization: Tailor the stat weights to your own theorycrafting.
I hope you all enjoy these improvements and that they make managing your gear much easier and more fun.

Happy gaming!

MQ2LootMgr Update: New Features and Major Enhancements!

Hello everyone!

New feats of MQ2LootMgr is in development, and it's packed with numerous improvements to help you better manage your items and define what an "upgrade" truly means for your characters. Here’s a look at what's new!

1. Character Build Assistant: Simplify Your Profile Creation!

Gone are the days of tweaking dozens of individual stats! The new Character Build Assistant allows you to define your character's playstyle with a few simple, intuitive sliders.

How does it work?
  1. Select Your Class: Each class (Warrior, Cleric, Mage, etc.) has its own unique set of gameplay axes.
  2. Adjust the Sliders: For each axis, move the slider to indicate your priorities.
    • Combat Style: Do you prefer pure Survival or maximum Aggression?
    • Mana Management: Are you focused on Efficiency (saving mana) or Power (stronger spells)?
    • Hybrid Role: Do you lean more towards Melee combat or Casting?
  3. Adjust the Intensity: A second slider lets you define how much weight each axis has in the final calculation.
The assistant will automatically translate your choices into detailed stat weights in the "Expert" panel. It's the easiest and fastest way to get started!

2. Enhanced Expert Panel: Total and Intuitive Control

For those who love to have complete control, the "Expert" panel has been significantly improved.
  • Multi-Select Class Filter: No more walls of checkboxes! A new dropdown menu allows you to select exactly which classes you want to view and compare. You can select "All," "None," or pick and choose individual classes with ease.
  • Logical Grouping: Stats are now grouped into logical categories (Offensive, Defensive, Attributes, etc.) for clearer navigation, especially when comparing multiple classes.

3. Item Comparator: Spot the Best Upgrades at a Glance

The item comparison panel has been redesigned to be more useful than ever.
  • Sort by Score: Items are now automatically sorted by their score from best to worst, based on your current character profile.
  • Equipped Indicator: A special icon now appears next to the item you are currently wearing, allowing you to see instantly how other items stack up.
  • Best-in-Slot Indicator: The item with the highest score is now highlighted with a trophy icon for immediate identification.
  • Efficient Display: The panel now uses virtualization (ImGuiListClipper) to smoothly display hundreds of items without slowing down the interface.

4. A Richer Interface: Modern Icon Integration

To make the interface more intuitive and visually appealing, modern icons have been integrated directly into text and buttons.

A Technical Challenge Overcome:
Integrating these thousands of new icons was no small feat! The base font provided by the MQ2 interface contained only about 1,800 symbols (glyphs). To add the 2,000+ icons from FontAwesome and Material Design, an advanced technique had to be developed.

This required "hacking" the ImGui and MQ2 rendering cycle to dynamically create a new, custom, merged font specifically for LootMgr. This complex process happens seamlessly in the background, allowing us to go from 1,803 glyphs to over 4,200. This provides a much richer user experience without modifying any of MQ2's core files.

---

These improvements are designed to make MQ2LootMgr both more powerful for experts and much more accessible for new users.

Special thanks to Engine for someone's guidance and its investigations

Happy gaming!
