Wow, very nice write up! Now, wishing I understood half as much as I'd even like to. I'm not sure I need to do all of the tweaks listed here, but cutting the sound is one I'm very interested in. I don't play with sound at all, so it does nothing to me, and if it speeds things up, even marginally, then I'm all for it!

BUT, it says, drop this file in the directory, but where exactly does this file go? In the "sounds" file, where all the .wav files are, or in the general directory, where all the rest of the stuff is?

Hey Enrikk,

Sorry it has been a while since I was last on EQ... Just thinking of getting back on and checking out the modifications made in THF in the last year or two. Glad to see she's still here.

Yeah, the file is just saved into the main EQ folder and named "NOSOUND.txt" this tells the launcher you don't want any sounds loaded.

Hi,
Old topic but still useful I guess.
Since few months, I have problems since I can't box 18 toons anymore. 13 seems to be my maximum with my actual computer power. Thing is I haven't change anything and now my computer just can't bear more than 13 before reaching his maximum.
I have tried using the tools described in first messages here but don't ask me why, but each of my EQ sessions are 600mo now, although I play in windowed mode and with all models off, stickfigures and so on.
Can anyone have a look at my eqclient and tell me what could I change please ? In my memory back a year ago or so, each of my eq session were like 400mo which was more bearable. Thanks

PS: I have deleted the user color thing in this post since it's useless for my problem I think (more is probably useless but I suck at computers ;) )

I know Noren did some testing with the CPU affinity settings, but don't recall the results off the top of my head. I've never had to use those entries and can run 24 at once no problem. Also memory usage can creep up due to updated global load file from the event, or third party program usage.

I've had character limitations too. Not in guild hall and not in Halloween events but definitely in Umbral and Vex Thal. When I look at CPU use and Memory use, things are just fine but there seems a limit on number of characters that hits around 23-24. Since I use three computers I have been able to play with the limit and it does not seem to matter which computer is adding the 24th.

My current guess of the cause focuses on my internet bandwidth. But IDK. Many things have changed, code and windows 10 are the biggies in my case.

I use isboxer so I can assign cores to characters easily. CPU use does not seem to be the problem.

I have noticed the inability to filter out some stuff....was a thread on that. One character or another just randomly starts showing hits etc.

yeah but even standing on the ground in guild hall = 600mo for the alts, and 800mo for the two main I play in full screen with all models on (whereas others are just all off / even with stick figures). So it's not a high peak when in fight or so, it's just constantly high.

Been sitting in GH for about an hour. memory usage is between 47 and 185 MB. Go go windows 10 :P
