Commentary from an MQ2 Newbie

In Star Wars Galaxies, I was a macro master. However, Star Wars Galaxies had an in-game macro system which, if you truly understood it, would make your toon or group of toons into full automatons, leaving you the freedom to go mow the lawn and come back to bags full of skill enhancing attachments and flawless lightsaber crystals and crying /tells from bounty hunters you rekt with your leet-skeet macro awesomesauce.

MQ2 is a royal pain in comparison to the innate SWG macro and combat queue system.

When I was young, my first PC was an Atari800xl. So, I know BASIC. I used to program games in BASIC and save them to cassette tape. I learned how to do a little Java later on, in the days of AOL 1.5. And, I was a diesel mechanic for a long time, charged with Jerry-rigging fixes on the fleet with incompatible and often retro-fitted parts from the bone yard.

Learning MQ2, which I'm forced to do because you can't kite a mob that runs faster than Qui Gon Jinn when droidekas show up even if you can snare it, and because you can't kite a mob that summons you, has me gnawing at the keyboard. It's taken a combination of all those past life experiences to begin to understand this. And a healthy dose of Adderall.

With that stated, I wouldn't mind having some help with my ranger main getting a leg up into HoH and sponging God Points (props to my guildies for flagging Eustace into t7 and all the help along the way). But as for my shaman, druid, enchanter, paladin, and cleric team, I'm building them from the bottom-up, which means Natimbi armor, then Kael Draekkel armor, then the Shadowhaven upgrade quest for Kael Draekkel armor, etc.

Also, no one has given me a script, but...
[MQ2] Building NetBots Array
[MQ2] Caernn
[MQ2] Eustace
[MQ2] Fioleia
[MQ2] Icebear
[MQ2] Kotabear
[MQ2] Pagette

You tell your party, 'NetBots Array loaded and ready!"

I WOULD RATHER BE KITING. YOU ARE ALL MAKING ME LEARN STUFF.

Thanks a lot, jerks.

LOL Mystic.

I can 2-box really well just using EQ windows, but that means I'm either sitting on the cleric or the shaman while my ranger melees. I mainly want the MQ macros to throw heals and hots, but dots, nukes, and enc buffs will be button-mashing command lines on my end.

Like building antibodies to snakes and venomous insects, generally best to do MQ2 a little at a time.

I suggest starting with very basic stuff like having all follow tank etc. Then all attack, sit, camp, stand. Then make some individual buff macros, where everyone uses those clickies you collected.... then move on to caster spells to used..

Starting small is good advice, also don't be afraid to ask here. A lot of what I learned to do with mq2 was through seeing what others had done and learning how to tweak it to make it do my own crazy plans.

A few MQ2 questions for you guys.
-Are you guys using a pre-compiled version of MQ2 ?
-If so what version is popular ?
-It's new to me and I've found one called Very Vannilla and one from MMOBugs that are precompilied and updated with live server. Will either of these versions work on THF ?

I don't have dreams of a bot army, more looking for maps, named mobs, possibly auto cleric. Thanks in advance.

I found mqemulator.net the most useful for my purposes. Folks on the forum have been helpful when I needed it. I use the MQEmulator Classic Build. For a while I used the "Gold" build but believe the thing takes up too much machine resources. You can download the various builds here:

For more than a year I resisted use of MQ2 as I'd 5 boxed for quite a while on Live back in the day with each character being run on a separate computer. But hmm, things have changed, hardware become much more capable and having a screen up for each character became impractical.

Just my opinion but use mqemulator's compile or do it your self. Not saying they are all bad but the majority of them have a paywall to view "premium" content and often times I find people borrowing others work and trying to claim it as their own. Those sites are a little like buzzfeed :D

Hail Noble Adventurer!

I am still experimenting, when I play, but I wrote for help some time ago about an automated healer, and in this thread I received excellent advice, and, eventually a working script that I still use.

viewtopic.php?f=204&t=12525

It might be of help.

If you read farther down you'll find this link, and the fix I used to make it work for me.
