Patcher

I guess i'll call the patcher a 3rd party software. But appears if i run rof2 client fresh i can log in perfectly fine. Buuut if i run the thf login patcher it always tosses a GUI.XML errors. So i thought maybe it was the client i was using so i tried brand new Uf client I can log in without yalls patcher just fine. But if i run it on UF im getting GUI.XML error. So i said ok lets try rof2 i download fresh copy ive used for all server tried to login through emul login and works fine. I toss the patcher in there instant GUI.XML error when only using the patcher I can not replicate this not using the patcher.

Thanks Dustah.

I think I know why. I'm looking into it now.

I believe it was the default UI file folder.

I changed the EQUI_Animations.xlm file on the download for RoF2 to include the references for the item dds files from 179 to 191 (for some reason, the RoF2 client I sourced some time ago didn't have this). This is so the client can render all of the items in the game.

What I didn't do is to change the uifile folder in the Patcher, so my guess is that the old version of the uifiles are overwriting the correct, new versions. I've re-uploaded the correct ui folder to the Patcher now.

I just tested this myself. RoF2 client worked loading fresh. RoF2 client worked after using the patcher (which actually didn't download any UI files, which is a good sign).

Can you please try patching again (don't try patching UF, we've not updated that for a while and it's out of date).

Heya so I downloaded fresh copy of the patcher appears even though I have it in my rof folder it is forcing underfoot only registration. So from what I seen i have THF copy of RoF2 on my C: drive. It was forcing itself to every single underfoot client on every drive i had. I actually had to go delete every single underfoot copy of the client I had on all drives to actually get it to register it being in RoF2 folder and allowing me to set a path finally.

I don't know why you're getting a UI error on the same client I just tried that didn't. Bit of a mystery.

Didn't you say in your OP that the clean install worked fine? It can't have suddenly stopped working if it's untouched (a GUI error is likely the UI files, so if it worked before and you haven't changed it, how can it stop working now?) I understand the Patcher might cause it to fail but a clean copy should be fine.

Is anyone else able to verify that the clean RoF2 client sourced from this site is causing a GUI error?

Well what I meant by that is when i made a eqgame shortcut like normal and used that shortcut i log in fine. I only recieve this error when clicking play on the patcher. Not saying I cant log in using just the shortcut just was not sure if it is bugged or what seeing it works normal and patcher wont.

Oh, sorry that wasn't clear. I thought you meant patching files causes an error...

I don't know why using the patcher to load the game might cause an error but I'll ask around internally. I think one of us may have had something like this.

Interesting still though... it worked fine for me. You on Windows 10?
