I like this idea. I'll think about my suggestion, however, off the top of my head I wouldnt want to see it in a zone limited to 1+1bot only. It hurts those that did donate // do box.
If anything I would suggest a zone for use be setup with task NPC for 1+1 // 6(group) // 18(guild or raid) and just scale the difficulty of the event based on how you got into the zone.

It will not be like that. When/If we release a Loyalty Quest, we will also release a TON of new zones for different levels up to 70 so no one will bump into others and have no mobs to kill, I assure you :)

Now, please guys, keep suggestions/recommendations coming as to the quest itself. Rewards and problems is alright too, but the main focus of this thread s suggestions/recommendations on the QUEST

I'd love to see some backstory revealed in the quest.

History of the hidden forest, what's lead to the war between Lords of Chaos and Lords of Order, some explanation of where the deities and planar masters fall in their own loyalties, that sort of thing. The game begins with the chaotic frogloks ambushing you and clobbering you over the head, then you wake up in the Hidden Forest, are greeted by Queen Adrianne, and then... most of the plot just stops.

I would love to see the NPCs in the Forest & Vale be given some personality and history, rather than simply being there to perform a function. This quest seems like it might be a good way to start exploring some of that.

I would love to see something like the Coldain ring wars recreated. It was quite the unique and grandiose series of event and it seems like it could be fitted into the storyline of THF, with the heroes of the quest standing to defend against an onslaught of enemies. Overall the difficulty/intricacy of the coldain ring/coldain shawl quests (at least back in the velious era!) seem pretty fitting as a benchmark for a loyalty quest!

Monster missions available to eqemu? Lots of creative options with those.

This quest could be great opportunity to introduce a source of in game distillers.

Considering the quests, and commenting on a discussion about instances, I always thought the DoN and then the DoDH instances were nicely done.

The entire line could be an instanced progression, if you wanted it, and you could tie it in several ways; For doing x number of LDoN easy's, you get an upgrade, OR, you do fewer Hards, and you get the upgrade...

Then, if you added in the DoN or DoDH line, you scale them back, with reward points along the way.

For those that can never succeed at the higher levels, they can still grind out at the easier stuff with the knowledge that they will gain something. Those that can handle harder things will probably earn it the harder way. No one is excluded, everyone can benefit directly to the amount of time and effor they put into the quest.

Alternately, I played a mudd a long time ago and they rewarded players simply for the amount of hours that were played. Now, I admit this isn't a very exciting idea, but it would allow a person, perhaps, to start a clock and go work on stuff, and eventually they would benefit.

Also, I'd hate to have to wait until a toon was level 70 to begin this. For one, better to hook them into a lifelong quest early, with the first few rewards easy perhaps, so that they feel genuinely engaged, and hooked, to the server. This is just the sales person in me, thinking out loud.

This is a great idea and I really hope that it will be done one day.
About quests, I enjoyed two things in EQ :
Epics and coldain ring.

1) That's why I would find very interesting (yet hard and long to create) to have a class loyalty class. Every class (or gather some class) can take a different role within the war between chaos and order (something related to nature, death, war strategy...that would fit to a class / few classes). Each and everyone of us can put his own piece. That would sound a bit like old live epic, which were totally different quests for each class. That would make everything even more intesting and less "automatic" for people who have got multiple characters (which represents the vast majority of our community).

2) To help Order winning, there are so many things to do, so that could fit with that loyalty idea, allowing to evolve something.

3) You could end those class quest by a kind of war that could also strenghten the links between players on this server. I remember that for my coldain ring, my guildmates helped me, but there was also friends, and even people I didn't know. Some became friends after. It united players for a single goal. Even if the first part is a class quest, the war can be the same for every class. It's just that the very special part that each class has brought ends up by fighting against chaos.

After that, it all depends if you want to put an end to that growing/evolving idea or not. Maybe a reward can be given in the end that will just get stronger with time going, but not change anymore in its form. To get in line with what I said, I would personally prefer something that is a class item. I love my HoH bp and my epic (or donor weapon). It makes the class unique. Best of course would be to have something that can be seen, so a weapon, but it might go against a new epic 3.0 or a donor weapon so shrugs. Even a class ring or whatever would be awesome, even if can't really be seen from the outside.

I will keep digging in my head !

Another possible idea..

I really enjoyed the Velious expansion on retail, the fact that you could pick 1 of 3 factions, dwarves, dragons, or giants. Each gave rewards, armor sets, and let you kill other bosses without any issues. Thurgadin has the okay armor, then the awesome ring and shawl quests. Dragons had arguably the best armor, but I dont remember any noteable quests. Giants had the highest AC armor, and you could quest the dragonscale helm/gloves I believe, and the frostbringer.

Probably more than a loyalty quest in that thought, but maybe elements of it could including in the final design.

An augment is a HORRIBLE idea. If you put it on something its stuck there unless you can afford to donate for a solvent to remove it. Sure there are people here that can afford to donate for their full suit of gear and be instant win, but some people play here because they cant afford subscription fees somewhere else.

My suggestion would be a class specific loyalty item. Each different class can obtain the item from a different lore responsible class specific quest, doesn't have to be long, and then you could mesh the loyalty evolving upgrades into the order chaos war story line.

If an augment is decided on, the problem of donator solvent could easily be solved by making the augment lore and then allowing you to get a new augment at any time after completing the quest, probably by simply talking to the quest giver.
