I'm not sure where exactly to post this, but this is a good topic as the economy is what i want to talk about. I have been playing on this server forever it would seem i have been playing EQEMU sense it first came out so i have seen a lot of servers go up and down and this topic is one of the hardest to achieve on a server due to balance issues. I think we need to bring some rare drops like it was in live boss's with PH's and make em drop items like fungus tunic. stuff that people well use to help level their alts or make things easier on them when they solo or even raid. like a insta clicky that does jack but is good for dispelled mobs. to balance the amount of Plat that's out their add something like a tribute system for guilds, granted i know that the tribute system is not working ATM, but in the time being put in a system that works like aura's say for 30m mob allows u to gain that aura and after 30m it deletes all the global tags for that start and stop bracket... who knows their could be a lot of ways to do it... just saying we have a lot of plat on this server and if u ever want to get a booming economy u have to find someway to get rid of the plat, but yet creating another method of spending it.... Either way for an economy to work u have to find something that people are going to want making everything that's no drop ATM is a nice idea but i don't think it'll create what u want... i think you'll need something more... but this is my way of thinking, I'm sure you'll do what u think best.

I am under the impression that the GMs of the server would like most of the people to experience most of the content by themselves. I think that removing the NO TRADE tags from various items in the lower raid tiers will not promote that. Already, I see a lot of people more concerned with getting to the later raid tiers while skipping most of the content. Either by buying a token that unlock previous tiers or by leeching/scavenging flags from other guilds/groups which are already past that content. I find it depressing to see many people that are new on the server being only concerned with the last tiers of raiding. Ultimately it's their decision, but by doing so, they skip a lot of content that took a very long time to design. Also, they miss on the opportunity to learn about the server, about the encounters, the quests, the loot, etc. Finally, by skipping content, people are also leaving others, who, like me, would like to experience the content fully, behind as they are not actively doing entry level tiers.

this is mostly cause you level a bit too quickly, and people how playing their 3rd or 4th char, already seen the content, and just want to get high up asap.

however if you want to see an area where things go slow, and exploration/questing is essential - try Alt-P ;)

Well after re-reading thoroughly the question of the poll, I must excuse myself for the confusion. I was under the impression that you wanted to take off ALL NO TRADE tags off (rather than non-boss's ones...)

This makes sense again...

I don't really believe it is an issue to have NO DROP listed on items, but I agree that some items should be tradeable, especially the lower levels.

As far as in-game economy - I don't think a change or non-change would even effect that. I myself just sat in the forest and handed out a lot of gear to people, and I have seen many others doing that as well. That is one of the things I like about this server. People are very willing to help others, which is great.

There was a group in Sebilis that had just down Trak. They /ooc'd about some items and CoH'd me to the corpse, and allowed me to loot them. Now, if NO DROP were removed from those items, would the group have done the same thing, or would they loot for their alts, or loot the item to sell later?

That was one thing about live that was really aggrivating. You wanted to improve your character, but you had to either farm a ton of plat or hope that you can get together with some people and farm the items. Either way, there is farming involved, and I believe that is what killed/will kill EQ.

On a side note, and not sure if it is possible, but can the restriction on NO DROP in the shared bank be removed? That way, if people wanted to loot things for their alts, they could, without making it harder for others to also work their character up. *shrugs* Just a thought.

I have to disagree here. Farming is part of EQ always has been always will be. Getting together with people is not only part of EQ but it is pretty much what it is built on. If you saying there shouldnt be farming and that loot should be gotten with out having to play with others and farm it, then y not just make EQ a single player game and not online. DUH.
Look at everything as one. You have to Farm for tradeskills or else you dont up your skill, you have to raid or group to kill big bosses to get better loot and if you dont want to group with people then you dont get loot. If you want to improve your chars. then you need to Play and kill things. IF you want to buy stuff then you Farm plat. NONE of these is required to play the game only to progress as much as you want to. If you dont want to buy items then dont farm plat. simple as that

TBH I dont forsee any sort of real economy on this server for a long time.
Staff is busy working on other stuff to really put in the needed work on this.
Also it seems that anything decent that can be sold gets sold in mass quantities and the staff goes "we never intended for item X to be the economy."

Which goes back to the fact that we really have little trade able items people actually want so we have an economy based around those few items and nothing else.
I mean I had some decent world boss loot and I could not sell it for anything and I wouldn't equip it on any alt because I can get raid items for those slots.
Ended up being deleted.

I like the idea of having aug distillers that can be purchased with plat. It hasnt been too much of an issue with me (yet) on replacing augs as i usually have some augs already saved for when i get new gear that are on par or better than my current augs...but...there is a problem for tanks. Each time a tank upgrades a piece of gear, they have to go back to Lguk and mass kill the place for some more AC augs. This also causes zone disruption for players trying to lvl in that zone.

Or maybe instead of or along with distillers make AC augs you can purchase. Maybe AC augs for xxxx amount and distillers for xx,xxx amount. Just seems silly every time our MT gets some new loot he has to go back to Lguk and destroy the zone for a new AC aug.
