Would you like to see MQ2 usage prohibited or limited on THF?

I know it's a sensitive topic but please don't sweat it. For now this is just a simple question to see the community's opinion. Feel free to add your comment with your cast.

The THF staff would like to know how you guys see the server's future with or without MQ2. Obviously if there would be any MQ2 usage limitations we'd have to re-balance some of the content but that's not the point of this poll.

Perhaps a fourth option? Operate a 2nd duplicate server with rules similar to what was in place when the server launched. 3 toons max, and either no MQ2 or only the use of a custom made MQ2 client.

Changing the MQ2 rules on the server as is will likely disturb the core of the base that boxes large (way way way too large) numbers of toons. I hate the thought of that. Let them box in peace, imho, and give us another playground in which the anti-boxers can safely operate away from those who box 54 players across 8 computers. Offer players a one-time character copy (per acct) from one server to the other (future transfers even possible via donation.)

My bet is you'd get a hefty number of people playing the new server! THF was wildly popular back in the ole "no MQ" days. Lifestyle changed and you want to go it solo more often with more toons? Support the server and get transfered to the FFA Boxing server. Tired of watching one person clear his way through all of the content by boxing 3+ groups? Click that box and transfer over to the cool server where you have no choice but to cooperate :P

Edit: by character copy I mean transfer :P You probably shouldn't be allowed to have the same copy on both servers, that would defeat the purpose!

your forth option would just divide again the population and instead of one server with 100 people in it, you would end two servers with 50 in each, which wouldn't be very much better I think.

I like Rude's idea. However maintaining two servers is cumbersome for the GM. In T8+ content I feel like I am hindering players who box 12+ as they can already do the content and am just tolerated and tagging along. Also, I'm afraid to be adventurous as if I caused a wipe, highly doubt I would be invited back once they rez and reset their 12-18-24-or more toons. If we can be limited or no-MQ I'd volunteer to transfer.

Rude's idea isn't a bad one, but our server pop is too low for something like that.

My opinion on MQ2 is that if you don't like it, don't use it. There are only a few zones that are not guild instanced. Yes, MQ2 users have a distinct advantage over non-users, but it shouldn't have a much of an effect on progression.

My 2 Cents,

Boxing is double edged. I do it, I don' t need any help to clear any content in the game. I rely on some very basic macros, targeting, healing, follow, useitem, etc. Deciding where to draw the line, thats the problem.

If you say no, you cant run your scripts, you risk running people off, or those who know how to write their own scripts surely know how to get around the rules to still accomplish what they want to do anyway.

Open up all Raid Tiers Immediately to all. Increase Spawn Timers on "Rare" items like COH orb, Epic quest guys, etc. Give me the option to Buy a Guild Instance porter for say.. 50k? who can create an instance for me that will be private to my own.

Create a idle kicker so that someone cant zone 24 into say VT and hold down the zone for all day waiting for guildies to get on and stays afk.

I would love to not box. However, there's not enough population here to not box. There are fights that are highly dependent on certain classes. When there arent any people who play that class and you want to progress what is your choice? Make one!

Make the Guild instances HARD and give increased reward for doing Harder instances. Make them so that people ACTUALLY play their class. Twisting 4 songs and auto attack does not make a bard.. require Trash that is actually hard. I mean HARD!! The things the old timers relish and love is the grind. Make the content so as I cant get through it by myself. I need people doing Jobs, make it so that it is virtually impossible to box through.

Most of the people that would have voted against allowing MQ2 and other 3rd party programs have likely already left.

Good point, the poll will be up for a long tho. Veteran players usually read the forums every now and then, like yourself Sir. :)

The pre-MQ2 era of THF was much better in my opinion. People were more active in chat and we had to work together to get anything done. THF is a great server, but if I was new to the server (and didn't know anything about MQ2), I wouldn't stay here long. It gets lonely rolling solo.

Playing and raiding with great folks is what kept me playing on THF. Without the social interaction, I admit I get bored and take long breaks from THF. I remember many Dark Redemption raids when we actually had close to 20 actual people raiding on a normal basis. The server population was booming. I would love to see this happen again.

MQ2 is a great tool for boxing. I would be happy seeing a THF release with basic functionality. It has made me extremely lazy, so I will have to re-learn how to box without it.

Just another semi-inactive player's opinion.

Purely for polling purposes I voted to prohibit, but it would be unfortunate if it went that way now. The server's identity has been well established in the emu community.
