Bot order problems

Lately I've been using a pally bot for soloing, being that I'm a ranger and it makes life easy if I can sit back and pluck away while someone soaks up all the damage. However, over the last few days I've been running into various problems that I wasn't having before.

For instance, there are several times where I'll have a mob targeted and the bot simply won't obey. She'll stand around, look pretty, and completely ignore my request that she impale whatever it is I've told her to make dead. Sometimes this can be fixed with summoning her to my exact position, but just as often I have to continually spam my attack key until she feels like listening (Or just takes the first few hits myself).

I've also been noticing some inconsistency with her AI. There are times where she appears to be somewhat intelligent, casting heals when appropriate to save her life or my own. Stunning mobs to gain aggro. Just the basics of her class that prolong her life and my own, making her an appealing addition to my party when groups are hard to come by. Other times, she will happily allow herself (or worse yet, me) to die a slow and painful death even while full mana.

But there has also been some very strange behavior lately that is even more perplexing. Halfway through the fight she'll summon herself back to me, sit down, and stare - twiddling her thumbs as a very angry Mob_X charges his way over to me with a sneering smile, promising my head on the proverbial platter. Other times at around 10% health, she'll go completely blank - she loses all aggro, can't be healed, won't heal herself, refuses to die and simply exists until about 30 seconds later when she kind of comes out of it, like she's been knocked unconscious.

As a side note, when she does die, I can still instantly bring her back up without the 3 minute wait timer. I'm not sure this was intended (and if I read the patch notes right from a few days ago, I'm fairly certain it's not) but I thought you should know.

I'm not sure how much, if any of this, is really fixable - but I thought I would bring it to your attention, if you were not already aware of this beforehand. I truly do enjoy the Bots as it makes the content more enjoyable, particularly until the server gains more steam and groups are a bit more common. It's nice to be able to log in and know that, even if noone else is on, I can still make progress beyond the mindless AA farming of other servers.

Anyways, thanks for all the hard work you guys have done so far - this truly is one of the best run servers of any game I have ever played on. Keep up the good work!

Cheers.

I'm aware of this. It used to be a problem with pets. There is a Line of Sight check within bots. This would be an extremely easy change but I have not changed bot mechanics in any way other than taunting. While this change would be easy, I'm not sure if it is a direction that the team wants to go.

Again, aware of some of these issues. Sometimes paladin bots choose to med instead just slash away. The reason is because we still maintain almost all of the default bot code. The default bot code is largely geared for a solo player offline with multiple bots. AI is a big issue and it could definitely be tweak, but I think their inconsistency is something that makes them fair.

This is likely an AI related issue. Have not been able to reproduce this. If you can reproduce it, please list all that you can. Your bot's level, approximate stats, and any specifics that may have happened at this time. Stuns, slows, fears, etc.

You are correct. Again, another issue I am aware of. This was changed after the notes release. There is a check in the code that was added to eliminate bots that are "left behind". It was causing a zone crash, but has since been fixed (can't cast to a mob that does not exist apparently!;p).

She's level 70, about 6k hp unbuffed (way too under-geared for her own good), and it always happens at the same percent when it happens. She'll get down to 10% and it's like she just freezes in place. I can't heal her, she won't heal herself, attack, anything. About 15 seconds later her HP will start to come back, and after about another 15 seconds she'll be at 50% HP and then she seems to re-animate herself. I've even tried summoning her, but it does no good.

I'd say on average this happens about 25% of the time. The other 75% she dies like a champ. I haven't noticed any particular effects that trigger this in slow/stun/etc, the only commodity is the 10% health, at least on my screen. Hope this helps.

May it have something to do with the Lay Hands ability?

Possibly! Or an attempt at enrage processing. Interesting, will check it out tomorrow and fix it hopefully. Off to the movies! :ugeek:

This happens to me a lot when using pally BoT. It's like my pally bot just stops fighting halfway through and sits down next to me, with the mob still on em. Weird. Another use of the command '#bot group order attack' will send her back out, but any idea why this is happening?

Prolly using the AA Act of Valor. Which if anyone has every played a paladin would know it kills the user and heals the target...now if it targets the paladin then it prolly will bug.
