In regards to if your raider friend wants to help, then the person who is doing the solo content can back down to L70 and attend some group/raid content with their raider friend, this really doesn't seem to be an issue at all.
There is no harm in giving someone the ability to actually DO something when given the chance to do something. You are suggesting that because you are a raider and you have some free time you shouldn't be required to mess with solo content (which you shouldn't have to because its been deemed solo content) to assist your friend where as its irrelevant as your friend can drop down to L70 and join you in raid / group content as freely as he/she wants.
Now the alternative is your friend has some free time, but hey you don't. Now what is your friend going to do? Sit around in the hidden vale because there is no content tuned towards him (yes there is ldons but its not everyone's cup of tea)? Because you think that he shouldn't have content so that you are not inconvenienced when you have free time? What about his free time? What about his desires to do things when you are already doing your raid content?
All in all there isn't a single down side to solo content post 70, and the way that was introduced actually seems like a fantastic idea. The only down side I personally see to it is that it devotes devs times away from raid content, and personally I do the raid content and love it and want to see more of it, but I am also aware I am not the only type of player on this server.
Adding something like this is a positive for the server and its health. It attracts different types of players who have different play styles. These people may join for the solo content and stay for the raid content when they gain more time. I know when I initially joined this server almost a year ago now, it was because I was able to login create a character and make a bot. I then proceeded to be able to effectively solo my way through the content at my leisure. I am sure this is what a LOT of people end up doing when they find the server and get hooked on it. Why not keep the ability to do this post-70 to keep them hooked? Not everyone is looking for raids, and that does change the dynamic of the server once someone gets 70.
I'm not sure what the issue is really? The only person that should complain is ChaosSlayer because someone just gave him an idea for more work to be done! =P
I agree 100 %. I enjoy this server so much and it's mostly because I don't have to group and I get to do the content and explore custom and old zones at my leisure. My main is 70 with over 500 AA's and I have about 4 other mains at 70 as well. But as a mostly solo player due to real life time constrictions like job, family, etc...I would love for there to be more content that suits that play style. As it is, I read about this wonderful new stuff going in and see tantalyzing screen shots but know that I will never get to see it. I logon and do the same thing over and over again--LDONs or PoV or Pstorm...that gets pretty boring after awhile. And a lot of players with a more casual style will most likely drift away sooner rather than later if there is nothing past 70 for them to do that is not extremely repetitive like ldons.
Would you rather have a server with a larger playerbase with diverse play styles, or a smaller server where everyone is happily raiding and following the same play style?
The more the merrier I would have thought.
