Monk DPS help.

(I apologize if this is the wrong forum) I just recently returned to the game and joined the server about 3 weeks ago.

I'm playing a monk and I'm just not sure if my DPS is where it should be. I played a Wizard on live so playing a melee is somewhat foreign to me, as far how DPS progresses from AA's, weapon upgrades etc. I just feel like I might be missing something so I figured I'd ask and hopefully someone with a greater knowledge of the class could point me in the right direction.

Right now I keep Aura of Speed and Fists of Wu running, Flying Kick and Dragon Fang on cooldown. I run Innerflame (when it's up) during Shaman epic. And that's really about it.

In NToV on the bosses I average around 850 - 950 DPS, topping out around 1150. Does this sound about right?

I assume if I'm doing everything correctly that it's just a matter of gear and lots of AA to raise that.

Here's my magelo link webtools/magelo/aas.php?char=Xzan

Right now 139 AA, working on Technique of Master Wu. Is there an optimal AA path? I know I need them all eventually.

Any help, advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!

AA's most certainly help, as does better gear with focus effects etc.

Monks on this server are very well balanced and do very good DPS (not overpowered AT ALL, pay no attention to the monks GM's  )

Cold Fungus Stone
webtools/items.php?id=7033

Storm Strike
webtools/items.php?id=17155

^^^ A very easy Aug to get to help before you can get Sleeper augs and so on. If you dont craft plenty of friendly players on the server can help you, and the mats are easy to get. Cold Fungus mats are the easiest and fastest to get, and the strike a little more challenge but no big deal for a ToV monk.

As for AA path, I think defensive AA's are pretty important early on for raids and such. They will come quickly enough 8-)

Monks are not nerfed here, so no worries.

Thank you, Falcore, I appreciate the reply. I didn't really think monks were nerfed, moreso I wasn't sure if I was playing the class correctly. Aura of Speed is the correct disc to use when not using innerflame? I tried out Tranquil Focus, but it didn't seem any better than Aura of Speed, and it doesn't help out my group at all.

Don't worry my monk friend, once you reach a certain level a gear your dps will go up to roof

Yeah once you get some disc clickies on you (power of fear), (fellstrike), etc then you can pretty much keep a disc on at all times.

I rotate between donor, innerflame, power of fear, Fellstrike, and Rapid Kick and maybe another that I'm forgetting.

Between any of those cooldowns and depending on the length of the fight I hit Fists of Wu, Dragon Fang, and Tranquil Focus every 30 seconds (if a disc is already up, Tranquil Focus just does nothing)

As far as AA's go, you want the one that lets you hit 6 times in a round, and you want max crit AA's asap.

Hope this helps =)

EDIT: Without full defensive, you can pretty much plan on dying to every ramp from every boss too =P

Total thread derail: Please remember that unauthorized augs combination should be removed by your own before you get caught. (PM sent :))
