Re: Aug help

Just to make things clear, this is how I handled an augging of the chest of my rogue Brith.

I had an HoH aug, Glowing Chest (item 120894) that I wished to put in his bp Marku's Chainmail Tunic (item 120649). He already had that aug in slot 2, and so trying to simply drop a second Glowing Chest into his empty bp slot 4 resulted in the red message "Cannot place two duplicate gems in the same item." So I ported him to the guild hall and LEFT clicked on the bird bath, which brought up a small two-box window. I placed his bp in one box and the aug in the second box and typed #augmentitem in his Main chat window. This command emptied the birdbath window, and placed the augged bp on to the cursor.

Note that there is no way (to my knowledge) to "aim" the placement of an aug when this method is used. In my example, the only allowable empty slot was slot 4. But if there had been more empty allowable slots, the aug would have been placed into the first available. So lets say this bp had been completely empty of augs. The chest has slots 1-4, arranged as type 8, type 8, type 16 and type 17. The Glowing Chest can go into types 8, 17, 18. This method of augging would have placed the aug into slot 1 because slot 1 would have been the first matching empty slot. If I had wanted the aug to go into slot 4, I would have had to fill up the two type 8 slots first even if it meant filling them with trash augs.

I seem to recall this limitation existing years ago. I think there was a suggestion made to create a cheapie trash aug...one that fits in all slot types but has zero stats...and have it offered by the vendor box next to the bird bath. This would allow players to easily "aim" this method of augging. But I guess the offer was not approved.
