Just got to T6 and had some thoughts/questions

Hello Everybody,

First off, I love this server. I have donated a bit and really enjoy the content.

I had a few questions about moving forward as I just entered into T6.

My first question is with bards. I felt like up until now, there were certain times that each group needed a bard to avoid the AE of the dragons and such in earlier tiers. Now most of my resists are maxed just from gear. Do most people run bards or should i drop them all but one for the AE regen/heal song and probably for the caster group for the increased spell damage?

I run 3 necros currently and was thinking about switch some of them out for a rogue/zerker as i really enjoy those classes. at one point do those classes do more damage than a T8 necro pet?

Is there anywhere I can get gear without having to max trade skills? I honestly skipped all of T4 and T5 armor quests because i didn't feel like having to max out my tradeskills on my characters. I liked that in earlier tiers, mobs dropped armor or in TOVs case I had options on what armor i wanted to wear. I felt like I was pigeon holed through these last 2 tiers unless I wanted to waste hours and hours on tradeskills that i find worthless. Is this the case moving forward? I know in T6 in VP I am going to have to spend upward of 60k per character which sucks because i rarely sell anything and give a lot of crap away so are there any alternatives or do i get to farm LDONs for cash forever to try to gear at least my tank and screw the rest of my characters for now?

Just some thoughts. Thanks guys.

Bard songs and clicks are a nice buff to any caster or melee in each group, pets included. I'd recommend keeping it.

Moving forward tradeskills aren't needed unless you plan on doing the raid auras, which you could get always get someone else to do that part for you (you have to loot the components for the flags, but technically someone else can give you the final combine when you are ready for turn in).

As for armor, I think T6 drops a piece for every slot similar to how the earlier tiers were, the crafted visual pieces are a little better and tend to have a focus effect you want. As for T4/5 armor, I think your option is mostly tradeskilling for the visual pieces; I never did them myself so I cant entirely remember.

Hope that helps a little.

that helps some and i thank you. I'll keep the bards which I enjoy anyway. Maybe I'll just make a third group of rogues/zerkers/rangers and junk for fun. I know once I get to tier 7 i won't be able to really solo some of the encounters if i was told correctly. It doesn't help that most of my characters besides my main war are running around in t2 or t3 gear since the tradeskills requirements. I have BPS from Xegony sitting in backpacks since i don't want to waste hours on that crap.

How do i farm the 60k for the armor for each character? I'm lucky to have any money really since i rarely do LDONs these days. I just started to up doing those so i can get into Sol Ro. I wish that bosses and raid zones dropped gems and real plat so that plat would be easier to come by (for example on wow you run a level 100 character through all raid zones for loot and each of the bosses drop good gold). Seems like running old raids is 100% worthless since gems never drop any where but LDONs that i've ever seen. There aren't enough active players to have an active economy and the only things worth selling seem to be the tier 8 spells. I like to give away the loot from chaotic bosses so never been much to sit there selling those.

Sorry if my posts are rambley, I am on some pain meds for a recent back injury which has allowed me to play more but sometimes messes with my verbiage :).

I really love this server and the staff. I just wish there were some better options for loot/armor (like T2 you had stillmoon or ToV quest gear. that was awesome). T3 the armor was good and then you auged it. everything since has sucked really besides getting augs to make my current stuff better.

Wish I had more time to help you with the plate farming. If you want to do gems. Go to see. I use to farm there alot unless some one was exping.

Best way to make plat in gobs is to run some of the boring quests at holiday time and then sell the tokens required for raid events at the exorbitant prices old players who are willing to pay to avoid getting the tokens ... you can make more than enough Christmas time to buy the gear from VP for all your characters.

Anyway, the ever part of Everquest means it is not supposed to go fast and, quite frankly, most of the fun is not being there but the process of getting there.

Best advice is to enjoy each tier and take your time...when you run out of content you run out of fun.

You can always try the Behemoth and Hivequeen quests in the back of the Vale.
They both have a really nice aug as reward when completed for all participants. (Group only though?)
Behemoth is a fast run, they do hit quite hard so pull with caution. Boss is easy compared.
Its also a pre req. for the Hivequeen instance.

Inside the Hive mobs drop 3-4 gems/kill, there are 4 minis otw up to the boss, each mini have a chance to drop a rare aug.

As for the T6 armor, i would gear tank then maybe get BPs for melee dps, i like the clicky.
Rest of the toons id skip, to much plat farming to buy armor for all.

HIvequeen is by far best farming place in the game. (Vale Adventure)
Second, the castle in Velks is one of my not so secret spots. Each drops a quest gem at least or plat, or sellable gem. Nice and easy plat!
LDON's which you are going to need if you plan on exploring Sol Ro (Great Augs, fun Quests) are also great plat, xp and a good way to gear any holes in armor. BTW! LDON gear MIGHT be able to be upgraded with sol ro drops.

Bards are a must have for every group imo. There are certain fights in the end game that are specific to type of caster damage they take, so plan ahead! Also if you plan on doing end game content by yourself, a Enchanter can be VERY handy. There are also fights that require Tanks, and in certain places Knights are necessary to win, and others Warriors are don't seem to be effected by silences....
