Guide to Boxing?

I'm a new player, and was wondering if there is any sort of basic guides to boxing? I haven't seen any on these forums - only references. I would probably be playing 2 characters at first (tank and healer), but then might add more, if it's manageable. I have heard of players boxing 6-12 characters, but I don't know how that's done.

Like typing, boxing can become easier and easier over time and like typing when you first start it seems near impossible.

Starting with two characters is a great idea, some dps/healer combo in addition to a tank is typical: shammy or druid or even a necro. These guys can help keep a tank alive and generally do as much damage as a tank or more.

I used to box 5 characters on Live with zero additional programs like Macroquest2. Macroquest 2 really does help but is unnecessary with two characters. I use MQ2 and it really shines in such things as getting everyone to attack and cast spells in a fight and also vegetative things like having your entire group buff itself and each other and give pet toys etc.

Start slow and do a little every day...don't ruin all your play time with manuals and reading etc... makes it not fun to play if you do that.

Here are a couple posts I have in my guild board to help new boxers:

The only thing I would add to this guide is to right click your mq2 and eqbc program files and set them to run as an administrator. This fixed a problem I was having.

You can also find some helpful hotkeys to use with MQ2 here:

Tips on getting started boxing multiple characters:

Skip down to the section that talks about WinEQ and read from there. It's a great guide that will tell you how to run multiple characters without overloading your system. You can use as many or as few of the changes he mentions as you want.

Here is another link to some helpful hotkeys for controlling multiple toons:

Some other helpful hints:

If you are using WinEQ you might run into a problem with your toons following you when /sticking. I was able to fix this problem by opening the MQ2MoveUtils.ini file in your MQ2 folder and adding the following line:

WinEQ=on

Since I added that, I haven't had a problem with my toons following me (besides occasionally getting stuck on a tree/wall/etc.).

I've made some custom hotkeys that I've found very helpful as well. Some examples

- Key to have all target the Guild Hall fairy, stick on her, wait a few seconds and say "enter"
- Keys to have everyone use their Token of the Vale or Forest Charm to mass gate
- Key to invite all my party and have them accept the invite
- Very important key to have all characters click yes or ok to any confirmation box they have on their screen:

/squelch /bcaa //multiline ; /notify ConfirmationDialogBox Yes_Button leftmouseup;/notify LargeDialogWindow LDW_YesButton leftmouseup;/notify TaskSelectWnd TSEL_AcceptButton leftmouseup;/notify GiveWnd GVW_Give_Button leftmouseup

This button will become invaluable when you start raiding with a full group or two.

This should get you started on your boxing adventure!

Thanks for the info everyone, but I noticed some of the links go to a domain parking page. I wonder if they moved?
