Partial Guide to the Antithesis Quest arc

The Antithesis quest arc is a long series of smaller quests done in Nobles Causeway. The end goal is to get the Stone of Absolute Antithesis, item 122972. This clicky is used against Blighted mobs in NC and affects their regen ability. Each toon that you want the Stone for will need to have these quests in their Journal. Group credit is given for kills. Some players have found that being in a raid can interfere with a quest, others have not.

Shout out to the all those who have done this quest before me and given help with their google docs, wiki entries and convos. This partial guide fleshes out some of the info, and includes changes that were done after the original docs were created.

Antithesis of Corruption quest:
- get from Gorvoroth. He is at the NC entrance.
- is a Journal quest.
- find (i.e. kill) Grinbar the Ancient. He is in the far southeast area. You can use a rogue to run there if you are
careful. There is a safe spot close to Grinbar.
- talking to Nerask is the last step. Coordinate-wise he is to the west of Grinbar, but route-wise
he is a good distance away. Again, a rogue can be ran there.
- reward is clicky Imbued Dragorn Bone, item 122958.

Fear of Ferocity:
- given by Nerask.
- is a Journal quest.
- Nerask is at the edge of a safe spot. The map lists the nearby zone out as Dranik's Scar, but thats not accurate for
this server. Zoning here takes you back to the NC entrance.
- kill 4x aneuk overseers and 4x ikaav overseers. A good place for this is Bonecracker's Pit.
- speak to Nerask, which will have "Kill the Alpha Feran, return its heart to Nerask" added to quest.
- Alpha Feran's ph is a "feran attendant". I don't know if any of the feran attendants can be a ph, or if just one of
the feran attendants is the ph.
- hand in to Nerask "Heart of an alphan feran", item 122965. Its prelootable. I don't know if kill credit is needed too.
- reward is clicky Feral Heart of the Alpha, item 122959.
- his further chat mentions "seeking out allies in the causeway...they provide artifacts...return to me...I may have
another task". This means that the remaining quest givers for this arc are now unlocked and will talk to you.
- the allies are the 5 quest givers that each reward you with one of the remaining five antithesis clickies.
- his "another task" is the final quest that rewards you with the Stone of Absolute Antithesis, item 122972.

Fire Elelmental:
- given by Vorkiev. If you can get him to do so, he mentions to watch out for the fire elemental. It might be tricky
to get him to do this as he also gives the School's Out quest.
- is not a Journal quest.
- Vorkiev is in a safe spot.
- he will not mention the fire elemental if your toon has not completed the two initial Nerask quests (Corruption
and Ferocity).
- the fire elemental he speaks of is the named Siflu. He drops 3x Burning Embers, item 122973.
- hand in a Burning Embers and receive clicky Murkglider Soulrod, item 122964.
- you can probably simply hand in the Burning Embers without any chat, but I don't know if that will work if the
Nerask tasks have not yet been completed.

Last Stand:
- given by Guardian Naven .
- this is a Journal quest, and requires 3 Names to be killed.
- Naven is in a small safe spot but don't venture more than a few feet away, as there are several wandering trash
that get close.
- will not give the quest if the two initial Nerask tasks have not been completed.
- the quest is similar to an escort quest, except that the npc (Naven) does not travel around the map. However, he
WILL charge mobs when they get into his agro range.
- I don't think there is a way to make Naven stay put. He is immune to mez and is probably immune to root and
snare as well but I have not tried.
- its safe for multiple toons to go thru Naven's chat...he will be very clear about when you want to start the fight,
which any questing toon can do.
- the fight seemed to consist of three waves of mobs each of which has a Named and some red/yellow adds.
- third wave has General Kizak in it plus some adds.
- during the Kizak fight, a fourth wave appeared. I don't know if this was a static wave, i.e. its always going to
happen, or if its a timed wave, i.e. an extra wave will happen every few minutes until Kizak dies.
- for many mobs, when my sk casts his hate AoEs they immediately turn and attack. Not so these mobs. They raced
right past my sk and went after Naven. But melee-generated hate worked well.
- these mobs are immune to mez.
- Kizak seemed to not "store" hate as usual...if I stopped hitting him with my sk for even a moment he would
immediately switch target to Naven.
- killing Kizak does not make the present adds despawn.
- after Kizak is dead, talk to Naven and receive clicky Idol of the Sprayblood, item 122962.

Discordant Infiltration :
- given by Alkron Wyrmsong.
- is a Journal quest.
- the route to him from the NC oasis (the grassy area of the zone, referred to by the npcs as "Haven") is safe for rogue to run thru, plus Alkron is in a safe spot that a coh-toon can
park at.
- the first step is talking to Tarlang. He has two "versions", a yellow con that scowls at you and a white con that is
indifferent to you. You will probably have to kill him multiple times to get the white version to spawn. The yellow
Tarlang can see thru a rogue's stealth.
- most of the area around Tarlang is not safe due to wandering trash. The only a safe safe spot I found is a tiny one
just west of him, between him and a ruined wall, way up the side of the ravine as far as you can go. The toon that
parks there may still require fd. Other toons that parked in other places would sometimes have their fd fail,
possibly due to wandering trash casting occasional AoE spells.
- Tarlang's spawning behavior is not normal. He will spawn and despawn periodically, and sometimes will stay
despawned for 3 hours or more. You might be able to spawn a white Tarlang by logging all toons out of NC, then
wait a few minutes and then log a toon back in to check Tarlang.
- Tarlang asks you to kill 6 kyv heartstrikers and then come talk to him again.
- next step is to kill the Dark Animist. His ph is Bazu Terror. Bazu Terror is rooted, and does Rampages, Wild
Rampages and Flurries.
- its highly recommended that you kill the surrounding trash before fighting the Animist. As soon as you get within
agro range, he spawns four Animist Zion's which heal the Animist. Kill them first, then kill the Animist himself. His
fight can actually be easier than the Bazu Terror if you are quick. This fight does have a shortish timer (5 minutes?).
- Upon the Animist's Death, go talk to Alkron and receive clicky Discordant Accords, item 122961.

Bazu Hunter:
- given by Ridgerunner Drunt.
- is a Journal quest.
- the first three steps are kill the scavenger, the stone thrower and the bone cracker.
- The scavenger is Bazu Scavenger. He is center east side of the zone.
- The stone thrower is Stone Thrower. He is a bazu that is to the north and a bit west of the Slavedriver Menlo area.
- the bone cracker is Bone Cracker. He is a bazu that is in the Bonecracker's Pit.
- next step is to talk to Drunt again. He will give some chat which warns you that the next portion of this quest is an
escort type. He will give clear warning such that you can get multiple questing toons ready.
- the escort goes from his location to to Haven. All the normal spawns along that path will despawn, and the
various quest spawns will appear in the same order as they do in the Journal.
- Drunt is rather squishy and agros all the mobs in his path, so giving him pet toys and having a cleric follow him with
spamming heals is recommended. The MQ2 command /stick did not seem to work with him. As long as you are
careful to run ahead (or with) Drunt with your tank and keep agro, then he should be fine.
- although group credit is given, there seems to be a rather short range for this. For me, I had left my bard and
rogue at Drunt's starting location while the rest of my group went with Drunt. Those two toons did get credit for
the first two kills but no credit afterwards. So yeah, I had to do the quest a second time. It only took about
20 minutes for Drunt to respawn after despawning at the completion of the quest.
- reward is the clicky Blighted Bazu Banisher, item 122963.

Friends Reunited:
- given by Kupiop Iku.
- this is a Journal quest, and having one toon get this quest will give the quest to the entire group. This is an escort
quest.
- first step is to talk to Jilla Oogblat, whose location is just north of the Slavedriver Memlo area. Doing so updates
the group's Journals.
- clicking on the link word "ready" in Jilla's chat will start the escort portion of this quest, which will appear in the
group's quest Journals. He will follow the toon who clicked "ready". You are to walk/run him to where Kupiop is.
- at this point in time, the quest seems to be occasionally bugged. You can have two Jillas, or have a Jilla that has a
very short timer (the quest timer should be 20 minutes) that fails the quest. The trick of the escorting is to keep
Jilla out of agro range of the all ukuns. Its ok to have other mobs within agro range.
- for some players (like myself), this can be a very difficult quest. Some wandering ukuns come up behind you or
come from the sides. Even with mq2maps, an ukun can appear to be static and then just when you close your map,
it will wander quickly to Jilla and fail the quest. What will also fail the quest is if the escorting toon gets too far
away from Jilla. This happened to me several times such as when the escorter would climb a rock that seemed
easily climbable. Jilla would suddenly run off on a different route, run out of range and then fail the quest. The
path from Jilla to Kupiop has some distance to it that can involve fighting a Name or two, depending on
circumstances. It can also involve edging around Bazu Terror if he is up and you are taking the valley route.
As for me, I used the roadway and bridges. There were less potential names, no Bazu Terror, and no pile of rubble
that was absolutely blocking the way. But for me, it was still the hardest quest to accomplish. I failed more than a
dozen times before asking for help. (Update Note: perhaps I should have used the pathed map given to me in
google docs. 8-( ).
- if you want to climb the side of a cliff to a roadway, find a place that seems to have the least incline, then slowly
back your toon up the cliff in small increments while watching Jilla, to make sure that he too is edging up.
- when Jilla gets close enough to Kupiop, Kupiop and Jilla will give each other a message in Main chat. At this point,
talk to Jilla and your group will all receive the clicky Ukun Friendship Bracelet, item 122960.

Ultimate Antithesis:
- after getting all seven antithesis clickies, speak to Nerask again and he will have some new chat which ends with
him giving you this quest.
- is a Journal quest.
- occasionally, he will delay in putting this quest in your Journal. Lag perhaps? Just keep clicking on the link word
"ultimate" and you'll get it.
- first step is to hand him four of the Blight Power sources. They can be prelooted. They are:
- Dragorn Blight Power Source, item 123045. Dropped by Recruiter Zalkar.
- Feran Blight Power Source, item 123046. Dropped by the Raging Feran. Ph is any feran?
- Ukun Blight Power Source, item 123047. Dropped by the Ukun Savage. Ph is any ukun bloodbeast?
- Discordling Blight Power Source, item 123048. Dropped by the Discordling Elite.
- the next step has you handing him the remaining three Blight Power Sources plus a residue. They are as follows:
- Bazu Blight Power source, item 123049. Dropped by the Bazu Stomper. Ph is a battle-scarred bazu.
- Murkglider Blight Power Source, item 123050. Dropped by the Murkglider Queen. Ph is any murkglider?
- Noc Blight Power Source, item 123051. Dropped by General Ixktar. Ph is any noc?
- Active Antithesis Residue, item 122971. This is an uncommon drop that can come from most any trash, Named or
mini mob. The Allaclone does not list who drops it because program-wise it does not use the usual loot code to
appear (shoutout to Ydiss for this info).
- After handing these in, you receive the Ultimate Antithesis Power Source, item 123052. You'll also get both a chat
and a Journal step telling you to combine all seven clickies and the Antithesis Power Source using the Antithesis
Fusion Device.
- The Antithesis Fusion Device, item 123053, is sold by Umbo for 25,199k plat. Umbo has a huge wandering path that
includes several safe spots. He does not halt when you hail him, nor when you right-click him for his trader window
so you need to be quick.
- combine the clickies and the Source to create a Dormant Stone of Antithesis, item 123054. Handing this to Nerask
results in receiving the final quest reward clicky Stone of Absolute Antithesis, item 122972.

Again, shoutout to the author of the google docs from which I got most of these attachments from.

Today I found Recruiter Zalkar up by Alkron Wyrmsong where trash dragorns usually are, so I'm guessing his ph is any dragorn.

Great guide.

Just a couple points.

Umbo should respond to Hail. He then gives you the option to wait a while (60s IIRC). This will let you buy what you need in peace. It's possible the zone quests and timers were bugged at points due to the zone being up for a long time so that might have caused issues for you (including friends reunited, which is a very complicated script).

The antithesis residue will have a rare chance to drop off certain racial types in the causeway but only if you do something to the target first. It's something you can't do when you first enter the zone but definitely can do by the time you're doing this quest (pretty big clue ;))

The Last Stand is designed so that Naven is the focal point of the battle. He'll actively taunt the targets which is why you see agro getting reset or aoe not necessarily working (it'll work, just get wiped every 10s or so). This is the same as with Drunt, who can be seen to be verbally taunting the Bazu (so you can respond to that visually).

The big key point with both of these npcs is they can be buffed and healed. They are squishy, but they can both withstand a fair beating. So an alternative strategy is to focus heal them.

Just be wary of the Noc race and their class ability! There are ways to mitigate their offensive ability.

The places where I mention the location "NC oasis" is properly called Haven. But you won't know that (just like I didn't) until you do some of the Gillies's Research quest and get told the name by Alavanari Spiritseeker.

Its unfortunate that we can't edit our posts for stuff like that.

I edited your op to reflect this.

Zalkar has 3 spawns he can potentially spawn from, ph is a dragorn elite armsman. So he'll have 3 potential locations to map. He's somewhat rare though.

Updates and Additions: Even more weirdness from Umbo...I had my rogue follow him to a semi-safe spot so that my bard could buy the Fusion item. Umbo was successfully halted by my rogue (he does not see thru hide/sneak so yes, my first attempts failed until I turned them off) and my rogue then ported my bard using his Orb. But when I switched to my bard's window, Umbo was not there (no, I don't use any special windowing programs like ISBoxer). I then looked at my bard's map (yes, I use MQ2 and so can see mobs on it) and Umbo was far away. At this point, I figured that Ydiss had done "a sneaky" and made separate Umbos for separate toons using the magic of code...but after just a few seconds, Umbo suddenly warped to where my rogue was seeing him so I guess it was a case of my rogue and bard clients not being "on the same data page" so to speak. I then tried to hail Umbo again but nope, he would not stop. Fortunately, the area was sparsely populated with mobs and so my bard was able to semi-safely parallel Umbo until Umbo got to another clear area and my bard quickly right-clicked him and bought the device.

Figuring out the ph's for Names will be tough...honestly, most of the Names I killed for the blight power sources were already up because: someone had previously cleared the area and the Named just happened to spawn, OR, Names will randomly despawn a ph and appear in its place. I don't know the zone code so I don't know if any of the Names will randomly spawn and despawn independently of trash (like Tarlang seems to do).

There are some spawn points that always seem to pop the same species, and some that can spawn a number of species. For those names that seem to have more than one spawn point, just look for areas where you can do multiple kills of the appropriate species. For example, I needed the Raging Feran to spawn for my bard so I continuously cleared two areas that I had seen multiple stalking ferans in: the area very close to Bazu Stomper (1 feran to his north, 1-3 to his west), and in the area just north of the bridge you pass by on the way to Tarlang (1-3 ferans). Both areas have safe-ish places where a coh-toon can camp and provide transportation.

My thanks to Ydiss for editing my original post, and for his clarifications/corrections.

Here is another place where Recruiter Zalkar can spawn. Just clear all the dragorns in the passageway and wait. Might have to do it a few times.
